Look Beyond

THE FUTURE OF CANCER RESEARCH AND CARE

At Fred Hutch, we’re driven by the urgency for new ways to prevent, treat and
defeat cancer and infectious diseases worldwide. To offer better options and new
hope to those facing cancer, we look beyond what research and patient care teams
can do on their own to what they can do together. Beyond the boundaries of
today's science to the outer reaches of our imaginations. Beyond today's best
treatments to new revelations that can overcome cancer once and for all.

LISTENING AND LEARNING

Creativity has always been a part of Dr. Vida Henderson’s DNA. The public health
researcher’s work involves listening and learning about peoples’ experiences,
trying to discover what’s meaningful to them and then tailoring scientific
programs and interventions that address these issues.

Breast Cancer Metastasis

A BIOENGINEERING BACKGROUND

Translational breast cancer researcher Dr. Cyrus Ghajar is working to identify
how cancer cells can break off from a tumor and find new homes in distant
organs, where they can lie quiet for months, years or decades before rousing and
sparking growth of new tumors.
