Jumia Maroc and the federation Tijara signed a convention to promote and develop
e-commerce
December 30, 2021

The two parties have agreed to deploy the necessary efforts to promote and
develop e-commerce and distribution through the implementation of actions aimed
at facilitating and adopting marketing styles and online distribution as well as
organizing training programs and exchange of experts. This event took place on
the margin of the Ordinary and Extraordinary General Assembly of TIJARA, chaired
by Mr. Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Ryad Mezzour. Jumia is a leading
e-commerce platform in Africa. Our marketplace is supported by our proprietary
logistics business, Jumia Logistics, and our digital payment and fintech
platform, JumiaPay. Jumia Logistics enables the seamless delivery of millions of
packages while JumiaPay facilitates online payments and the distribution of a

Jumia joins the FIA Safe and Affordable Helmet Programme to promote road safety
in Africa
December 9, 2021

In support of United Nations Safety Standards, Jumia, Africa’s leading
e-commerce platform, today announced plans to provide more than 7,000 motorcycle
helmets to its Delivery Associates (riders) as part of the Fédération
Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) Safe and Affordable Helmet Programme. This
initiative aims to provide high quality helmets meeting United Nations
Regulation ECE 22.05 in territories where accessibility and affordability can be
difficult. The design concept has been conceived by helmet manufacturers with
the goal of creating the lowest priced helmets on the market while also meeting
the UN safety standards, as certified by independent experts. The helmets, which
are suitable for hot and humid climates, will be distributed to drivers free of
charge in support of Jumia's mission to enhance the well-being of its workers
and partners and to continually seek innovative ways to improve the workplace
ecosystem. The programme will first be rolled out in Nigeria, Egypt, Ivory
Coast, Kenya, and Morocco with additional countries to follow in the upcoming
months. 2000 of the helmets, which are UN ECE 22.05 certified, have been
assigned for distribution to Jumia delivery agents across Nigeria. Jumia’s safe
helmet programme is part of the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety
2021-2030 and is intended to help reduce the number of global motorcycle-related
fatalities. Indeed, research shows that safe helmet wearing is one of the most
effective road safety interventions, reducing the number of head injuries among
moped riders and motorcyclists by around 44%.

UNICEF and Jumia launch a partnership to help Giga connect schools in Africa to
the Internet
November 11, 2021

NEW YORK/LAGOS, 11 November 2021 – UNICEF and African e-commerce platform Jumia
(NYSE: JMIA) announced today a partnership in support of Giga’s work to connect
every school to the Internet and every young person to information, opportunity,
and choice. Jumia’s data science capacity will offer Giga insights into the
economic benefits of increased connectivity, helping to make the case for
increased public and private investment in Africa. Jumia will also share
anonymized data to help map school locations and connectivity across key Giga
countries. In Nigeria, Jumia and Giga will work on two prototypes for digital
payment mechanisms that can be used to make school connectivity procurement more
transparent and efficient. “Jumia’s in-depth knowledge of markets across Africa
will help Giga pinpoint both demand for connectivity and the economic benefits
that it can bring,” said Thomas Davin, Director, Office of Innovation at UNICEF.
“Partnerships with African companies like Jumia help UNICEF to tailor its
approach to local circumstances, making our work on behalf of children and young
people more effective.”
