DON'T JUST TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT

Hear from some of our amazing teams we’ve worked with!

Research paper on e-scooter lifecycle emissions
The project by UCL and FEA researchers assessed the environmental impact of
shared e-scooters in Bristol, analysing over 190,000 trips. It found e-scooters
reduced greenhouse gas emissions by up to 45% and travel time by 47% compared to
traditional transport modes. This significant reduction was linked to efficient
operations and high vehicle utilisation, emphasising the importance of
sustainable practices in fleet management.

Impact:
At the TRB 2024 conference in Washington DC, this study underscored shared
e-scooters' potential to significantly improve urban mobility and
sustainability. By demonstrating up to 45% reductions in emissions and 47% in
travel time, it highlighted e-scooters' efficiency in cutting congestion and
emissions. This research offers critical insights for cities and policymakers,
advocating for e-scooter integration into urban transport strategies for
environmental and efficiency gains.

“'We were very pleased with the outcomes of our collaboration with FEA, which
has provided solid evidence of the positive impact our e-scooters are making on
people’s lives, which we continue to use in various communications'”.

Director of Central Policy
Offshore wind farm optimisation tool
Developed internal tooling for early site development teams to optimise the
design of offshore wind farms. The team introduced a novel machine learning
based approach that greatly sped up the discovery of optimal wind turbine and
array cable layout.

Impact:
Though this project the team delivered 40 x ROI through increased yield and LCOE
across various sites.

“Our collaboration with FEA has been a great success. Through this partnership
we have been able to develop and build upon our existing set of tools,
workflows, and business intelligence and apply cutting edge data science
approaches to offshore wind farm optimisation. This project is very much in line
with Scottish Power Renewables’s digitalisation and innovation drive. The team
at FEA have a diverse set of expertise in data science, optimisation algorithms
and machine learning, as well as a deep understanding and passion for
renewables.”

Senior GIS Engineer
Granular certificate API and software architecture
Researched focused on key challenges in transitioning to (sub) hourly Granular
Certificates, including examined unit-based issuing, increased volume, dual
registry synchronisation, and data transparency concerns. The analysis informed
our development of API standard and software architecture for EnergyTag to act
as a reference for developers of granular certificate registries.

Impact:
Achieved good engagement from a registries developing granular certificate
systems for the first time.

“Future Energy Associates' unique blend of energy, data and soft skills is
unique. They did a great job efficiently delivering an energy tracking API
specification for us. They were very quickly able to get to grips with a huge
amount of detail and create a rigorous set of technical proposals. I've had
nothing but good feedback about their work from our community and look forward
to working together again in the future.”

Tariff Watch: Domestic energy market reports
For the "Warm This Winter" campaign, Future Energy Associates produces detailed
market reports on the UK domestic energy sector. These reports offer an in-depth
analysis of various aspects of the OFGEM price cap to assess its fairness and
reasonableness. Additionally, leveraging our market-leading tariff database, we
highlight how prices are evolving and identify specific user groups that may be
disproportionately affected.
View Impact & Testimonial
Impact:
Our market reports have gained significant traction, being featured across
national media outlets including the BBC (TV/website), The Telegraph, Daily
Mail, and This is Money, among others. Local newspapers have also showcased our
findings. This widespread media coverage prompted OFGEM to re-evaluate the price
cap for Economy 7 tariffs, underscoring the tangible impact of our work on
energy regulation and policy.

“FEA did a fantastic job helping us build out our software stack, we loved

Technical due diligence
This project involved providing Charles River Associates with technical
assistance in conducting due diligence on a standalone software offering of a
significant company. Our role encompassed in-depth analysis and evaluation of
the software's technical aspects, performance metrics, and integration
capabilities. By scrutinizing the software's infrastructure, security protocols,
and scalability potential, we aimed to offer comprehensive insights into its
current state and future viability.
View Impact & Testimonial
Impact:
Our advisory services played a crucial role in guiding Charles River Associates
as they consulted a prominent private equity firm on the valuation of a UK-based
battery company. The insights derived from our technical due diligence enabled
our client to make informed recommendations regarding the battery company's
market value and investment potential. This project not only facilitated a
strategic assessment of the battery company's technological assets but also
contributed to shaping the investment strategy of the private equity firm,
highlighting the importance of thorough technical evaluation in investment
decisions.

“"We enjoyed working with FEA and valued the deep software expertise and
know-how they brought to the engagement, as well as the creative solutions they
suggested for the client’s overall assessment””.

MVP data pipeline build
The team created an approach to integrate vehicle testing and emissions data
into a scalable data pipeline, to inform predictive mileage models using
techniques, and create interactive dashboards visualizing historical and
projected electric vs. combustion vehicle miles traveled. This included
multi-step modeling for new/hybrid vehicles, exploring spatial patterns and
supplemental data sources, and leveraging expertise in large datasets and
machine learning.
