Since we both attend events around the country, we are able to meet a lot of
other Suikoden fans and recruit! Our group was set up a year ago so we could try
to coordinate our costumes at various conventions around the country. So the
idea to create and host Suikoden events around the USA was born, and we created
our Facebook group to help organize these events!ĬJ: Nika & I really like
costuming and Suikoden, so this was the natural thing to do.

NE: For as long as Celine and I have been friends, we have been cosplaying from
Suikoden! Everywhere we went we talked about Suikoden and promoted the games!
During last year’s Suikoden Day event, we were noticing the fun Suikoden get
togethers that were happening in other countries, such as Indonesia. When did
you first consider organising these official Suikoden get-togethers? How did you
go about planning it? I became part of the admin at SRM earlier this year, when
I could dedicate more time to help the SRM out. GA: I have been a member of the
SRM and Suikoden Day since they started on Facebook. The SRM page was
cross-promoting the Suikoden Day page, so I joined that too! I believe that was
the second Suikoden Day, and I have participated in the cosplay contest every
year since! In 2013 I also pulled my friend Celine into entering the contest.ĬJ:
I didn’t even know SRM existed until 2013, when my friend Nika wanted to enter
her Valeria costume in the Suikoden Day contest. Without any hesitation, we
joined that page. NE: My husband discovered the Suikoden Revival Movement
through a Suikoden forum back in 2012.

How long have you been a member of the Suikoden online community/Suikoden
Revival Movement? And that’s not even getting into the Suikoden world’s lore,
which has been well-developed thanks to an overarching continuity within the
games. The games remove a unnecessary resource/level grinding, needlessly
complex battle systems, and menial “fetch” quests to focus on a deep, complex
and satisfying story, as well as one big, meaningful quest recruiting
interesting and unique characters. Suikoden is special to me because it is a
series that never wastes my time. After getting the worst possible ending (I had
less than 60 Stars) in my first playthrough and finally getting 108 Stars during
my third, I was in love with the game, and wanted to play everything in the
series. Gerard Angeles: A close friend of mine introduced me to Suikoden II
about fourteen years ago. Even with such a huge cast, it’s impressive how
involved you can get with so many characters. The series is unique with the
large recruitable army, and manages to keep a serious and political story
interesting with light-hearted elements. Much to my surprise, this weird little
title ended up being much better than FF7.

To say that these stories changed my view of the world is an
understatement.Ĭeline Jules: Played Suikoden in 1997 because I needed a PS1 RPG
and FF7 wasn’t out yet. These games are epic stories of characters who have to
go through unexpected situations, and deal with politics, as well as betrayal
between friends, family, and then some. They’re special to me not only because
of the love of the games that my husband and I share, but also because of the
storytelling. However, the game was so hard to find at that point that I was
never able to play it! When I got together with my boyfriend (now husband) in
2006, he brought me his copy of Suikoden because he knew I would love it… and he
was right! Nika Elteri: In high school I had a group of friends who were super
into video games and anime…they also really loved Suikoden. When did you first
get into the Suikoden games, and what is it that makes them so special to you?
We got in touch with Nika, Celine and Gerard to find out more about the Suikoden

community, and in particular cosplayers, together in the USA. Groups like the
Suikoden Revival Movement are dedicated to bringing the fantastic RPG series
back into the limelight, whilst the annual Suikoden Day offers a time for the
community to share fantastic artwork, projects, cosplays and stories relating to
the games. Fans of the Suikoden series have developed a large and
passionate community over the years.

oysters. This brand new eatery is the sister restaurant of Fiskmarkaðurinn. This
means you could get salmon, cod or wolffish, all served with potatoes, rice,
veggies and sauces. The restaurant serves up a steamed fillet in their Fish Of
The Day meal, with the fish options depending on what is the freshest available.
JRįor a piece of good ol’ Icelandic fish, there’s no better spot than Salka
Valka. The menu cycles based on seasonal ingredients, so there’s always
something fresh and interesting on the menu, whether it’s spicy scallops,
grilled wolffish, cod cheek, or king crab tortellini. It isn’t a specialised
fish joint, but fancy small-plates restaurant Mat Bar is an absolutely reliable
