The DropDesk Spaces App allows users to search, book, and pay for parking rentals Whats The Difference Between a User and a Host Account? Your experience with DropSpot depends on whether you have a User Account or a Host Account. A User Account: Allows you to browse and Book Spaces. You can sign up as a user and book space by using the DropDesk Spaces App or by browsing listing(s) on the web by clicking here. A Host Account: Gives you the ability to market/manage your space and communicate with Users who want to book space. You can sign up as a Host by completing the Host Application Here. Please note: As an Admin in order to use the DropSpot Service to Book Spaces create a User account using a different email address and phone number or have a family member or friend do so. In order to see your Space’s public listing, you can visit the same link on the web app as a guest. How Do I Book A Parking Spot? Enter your payment method. 3. Select a category (type of space you want to book). 4. Search and choose the space you would like & book! It takes about 30 seconds. What Types Of Parking Spots Are Available? DropSpot allows users to book unique spaces throughout Long Beach, NY including private driveways. How Do I Resolve Or Report An Issue? DropSpot mediates the communication between Hosts & Users. In the event a situation cannot be resolved, please reach out to support using the Help Center >. How Does Pricing Work? Hosts list inventory at their preferred rates. Spaces can be listed at hourly, daily, and longer periods to ensure we can support every need. Can I Extend Bookings? In the event you are booking by the hour or half day, you can extend the booking by booking the same package again if available. If you would like to book an entire day (without worrying about extensions), you can do that as well by booking a day rate. Is There A Cancellation Policy For Bookings? Bookings need to be cancelled 24 hours before your reservation date. In some cases, hosts may allow for more flexible cancellations. What Happens If You Overstay Your Booking? It is important that you move your vehicle prior to the allotted time expiring as referenced in your Package (unless you are able to purchase another Package to extend your departure time). You will be notified through the App if you overstay and you have the ability to communicate with your Host through the App by clicking the message icon if a problem has arisen. If you take no action the Host reserves the right to have your car towed by a licensed towing operator at your cost and expense. Obviously, no one wants to see this scenario occur, so please pay attention to your Booking Details and any Special instructions, which you can see in the Booking email and in the Booking activity screen which can also be accessed by clicking the deep link in the text confirmation you will have received. You expressly agree by using the DropSpot service that in a worst case scenario your vehicle may be towed. Prior to that happening, you will be notified through the App with details on how to contact the towing company to retrieve your vehicle. How do I Become a Host & Rent My Space? Simply click the “Become a Host” button, complete the form, and our team will review your application for approval. See our terms for more info. What Are My Responsibilities As a Host? As a Host, to avoid termination of your account you MUST: 1. Ensure your listing is always up-to-date with the correct information. 2. Ensure that the days you list for users to book are days you can support. The more days you make available the more visibility and revenue you can earn. 3. Download the DropDesk Spaces App (login using your Host Username & Password) to list Blackout dates to automatically UNPUBLISH your space on days you will be away or not able to support. 4. Frequently communicate with users on your policies using the DropDesk Spaces App. What Are My Responsibilities As a Host? DropSpot’s standards for hosts are simple and tied to how you would want to be treated. If you cannot maintain the host standards, then we will remove your listing from our website and app. 1. Create a safe space: we require all spots to be private – owned or controlled by the host (e.g. no public parks or shared spaces in apartment complexes, etc.). We require all Spaces to be free of animals and children during guest visits. 2. Accurately and completely represent yourself and your space: we require each listed Space to have at least 1 photo of the Space. Spend a minute thinking through your Space to make sure that your users don’t have any negative surprises when they show up at your Spaces. If you get a question from a guest about your Space, take a moment to update your listing with the answer. 3. Accommodate bookings: it is expected that you are keeping your calendar up to date and that when a guest books your Space you will accommodate that booking. 4. Be responsive: if someone sends you a message or a reservation, get back to them as quickly as you can. As a guest, there is nothing better than getting a super-fast response. All messaging should be done through the DropSpot messaging tools. Asking people to text or call you directly is confusing to our guests; it’s simpler for users to message through DropSpot. 5. Get good reviews: this goes without saying. In the end, if you have great reviews from your guests, you are doing it right! 6. DropSpot Inclusion: We are an inclusive community and do not tolerate discrimination. 7. Reservations: Our system only allows one booking at a time, so there can be no other users there at the same time as your guest. Ideally, use a 30 min buffer between each booking. 8. Overstays: In the unlikely event that a guest overstays their booking and has not extended their booking, contact Help Center >. Our Member user terms allow for a car to be towed in a worst-case scenario. Instant Bookings VS Host Approved Bookings As an optional convenience we have implemented Host Approval for specific Packages that Hosts may elect to turn on the Host Approval functionality in the Host Portal. If disabled, users will be able to instantly book your space. With Host Approval ON, a Member User may Request the Booking of a Package, which requires the Host to respond timely to the Request by sending a “Y” or “N” to the Host Confirmation Request text. The User will receive text indicating that the Request has been made. On a “Y” (yes) response from the Host the Booking will automatically occur and both the User and Host will be notified in the usual way by text, email and app notification with the Booked Package indicated in the Hosts Activity screen and the User’s My Bookings screen. While a request is pending User cannot request another Booking. The Member User has the ability to cancel a Booking by clicking on the menu dropdown (three dot icon) at the top of the page to cancel a Booking immediately after a Booking is confirmed. Use of the Host Approval feature means that Hosts can rest assured that Bookings will not take place at inconvenient times and without the need to optionally unpublish the Package manually from the Host Portal or using the Blackout Calendar Date Blocking Feature in the Hosts Mobile App Portal . Did The Right Person Park In My Spot? DropSpot sends directions to the customer to share their license plate and car model. In the event they do not, you can simply click the message customer button under a booking to confirm the reservation. How Much Should I List My Parking Spot For? This FAQ is about setting prices for guests. To learn about how Hosts get paid, go here. To learn how much DropSpot charges Hosts, go here. You have complete control over your price for your spot. Reservations: users pay for a specific booking that they make on your calendar. See more detail below. As Hosts are researching the appropriate pricing for their spots, we recommend looking at comparable spots in the area and taking into account all information on pricing below. Reservations Reservations are where DropSpot members pay for a specific booking that they make on your calendar by choosing to purchase a Package. Price is set per car per hour, with a minimum set by you- say 2 hours. You can set your reservation pricing in your DropSpot Venue Account. When you create a Package, we set a default price of $6 per car per hour. You can set whatever price per hour, day or half day as you would like. We recommend listing parking Spaces between $5-7 /hr to $50/day (depending on location, amenities, and convenience). A couple of things to keep in mind when setting your price: * Check other popular spots around you to see what people are charging. If possible, it’s best to check popular Spaces because this means they are popular, which means they have set a good price. * We provide a recommended price as guidance. This price increases as your spot becomes busier and decreases as your spot becomes less busy. This is just meant to be one data point, so use your judgement when considering this recommended price. Can I List Longer-Term Spaces? Although hourly options are great, we recommend listing half or full day rates to allow other users sufficient time to extend/manage bookings. Also ideally allow for a buffer between bookings and periods when you need your Space. How Much Does DropSpot Charge? This FAQ is about fees that DropSpot charges to Hosts. It is free to list your Space on DropSpot. DropSpot charges a commission on each booking or subscription to cover our costs. The total commission cost to hosts is usually 30% plus inclusive of all payment processing fees to collect payment and provide monthly payouts. If you would like a detailed reporting of your earnings, you can reach out to our Help Center and ask for it. Ready to host? You can learn more and get started here. Do I Have To Share My Contact Information? No, all communication on DropSpot is handled using masked numbers. This ensures private contact information is NOT shared with the User or Host. As a rule of thumb, never share personal information in the chat. How Does Payment Work? Payment is released on a net-15 basis. For example, payments for May are released to Hosts on June 15th. This allows our platform to handle disputes and mediations. Can I Terminate My Account? Yes, if you need to terminate your account or have accidentally created the wrong account, please reach out to our Help Center. STILL HAVE MORE QUESTIONS? Visit the DropDesk Help Center.
