Following their plan, Lady Macbeth drugs the King’s chamberlains, and then,
while Duncan sleeps, Macbeth breaks the laws of guest right and stabs the king.

When Macbeth returns, she persuades him that he needs to assassinate Duncan,
overcoming Macbeth’s hesitation. She hopes that he will kill Duncan and take the
throne. But when Duncan’s men arrive to tell Macbeth that his success has led to
the king granting him the title of Thane, Macbeth is intrigued and writes ahead
to Lady Macbeth to let her know what has taken place and that King Duncan plans
to dine at Macbeth’s castle the following night.īack in their castle, Lady
Macbeth lacks her husband’s skepticism.

When the witches vanish, the two men are skeptical.

After their battle, Macbeth and Banquo stumble upon the witches, who prophesize
that Macbeth will one day become a thane and King of Scotland, while Banquo will
father a dynasty of Scottish kings (without ever being king himself). Macbeth
and Banquo have defeated two invading armies (one from Ireland, one from
Norway). In a military camp, King Duncan of Scotland hears the news of his
generals’ success. The play opens with three witches, who make plans to meet
again.

No one knows exactly why or when the Teatro Grottesco will show up in a town
although there is a link to underground artists disconnected with the locals.

“Teatro Grottesco” by Joe Harris (writer) and Michael Gaydos (art). Everyone
remains haunted by the largest gloomiest edifice not just due to its ghastly
shape and size friends and family spent time there and though shut some might
still stalk its halls. The Shire County Asylum looms over everything in the town
though it has been closed for years. “Doctor Locrian’s Asylum” by Joe Harris
(writer) and Ted McKeever (art). At her first visit to the psychiatrist, Amy
Locher tells him about her nightmare that brings the doc into her horrific
“realm”. “Dream of a Mannikin” by Stuart Moore (writer) and Ben Templesmith
(art). At a winter carnival in Miracaw he will witness and participate in
sacrifice to wormy beasts that would give Lovecraft nightmares.

festivals.

THE WAY OF KINGS ART

but it's infrequent and disappointing because it could add so much to the
book/series.ĥ. The book started off with some history and you get pieces here
and there of the Voidbringers, Radiants, etc.

There isn't enough history given of the fantasy world. Stormfather! Highstorms!
Stormlight! Storms! Okay, I acknowledge that the series is "The Stormlight
Archive", but can't it be toned down.Ĥ. The text "Storms" is used too
frequently. I think I've seen some 'spren around me emoting "BORED"!ģ. I'm tired
of all the 'spren which seem to emote with anything that happens (flesh rot,
working hard, creativity, fear, anger, etc.).

I don't know, maybe I'm crazy by not thinking that glyphs could cover all of
this.Ģ. Now, tell me how this works for a general during a battle? True, they
use glyphs all the time, but still.reading maps without written text, troop
formations, troop numbers, names of battle sites, etc. It is beneath men to
read, they are read to by women. This fantasy world is crazy and some things are
really annoying. The plot moves at a snail's pace, similar to The Wheel of Time
(IMHO) which is why I gave up on that series after the fifth or sixth book. The
story is slow, for 200 pages it seems that Dallinar is having visions going
nowhere, arguing with his son, confused and thinking too much.while Kaladin is
breaking his neck trying to improve the bridgemen. Alright, I'm about 500 pages
into this book and frankly I don't see the hype throwing it into a number of
best "Epic Fantasy" Top 10 lists.

REVIEW OF THE CANDY HOUSE

During the conversation (Bix was disguised as Walter Wad, a graduate student in
electrical engineering) one of the group members mentions that she is working on
externalizing an animal’s consciousness by uploading the animal’s perceptions
using brain sensors.

In his search for open discussion to spur new ideas, Bix attends a small meeting
at the apartment of Ted Hollander following a lecture by Miranda Kline.

“The fact that MK (as Kline was affectionately known in his world) deplored the
uses Bix and his ilk had made of her theory only sharpened his fascination with
her.” Bix’s original social media idea came from Miranda Kline’s work “Patterns
of Affinity,” where Kline introduces formulas for predicting human inclinations,
requiring intimate knowledge of the person in question. The novel begins with
Beresford (Bix) Bouton, famous for having created the “social media” business of
Mandala, worrying over his next creation and longing for the days when he and
his friends could sit together and trade ideas. The novel is a companion to
Egan’s Pulitzer prize winning “A Visit From the Goon Squad,” featuring some of
the same characters and using interlocking narratives to tie the characters
together. The Candy House is a simply amazing novel about the intrusive nature
of evolving technology and the ever increasing importance of real human
interaction.

Seventeen-year-old Private First Class Daniel Christopher Wright is a typical
high school senior. Which side is Danny supposed to be on, the Federal
government, who have deemed him a fugitive, or Governor Montaine, who he's
supposed to serve? But when Danny is called to a protest that quickly becomes a
riot, and Danny's gun accidentally fires, he suddenly finds himself in a middle
of a Crisis that eventually becomes the Second American Civil War. He's signed
up for the National Guard and attends high school. The recent passage of a
Federal law mandating individual ID cards for all citizens inclusive of
digitized access to personal information and GPS locating functions has drawn
sharp criticism from several state governors. With wars raging in Iran and
Pakistan, the economy in shambles, and political discourse increasingly hostile,
the United States of America is a deeply troubled land.

In the not too distant future, the United States remains a starkly polarized
nation.

The game was released on Octoand was a commercial failure, though it received
critical praise. Producer David Mullich supervised The Dreamers Guild's work on
the game's programming, art, and sound effects he commissioned film composer
John Ottman to make the soundtrack.

The player interacts with the game by making decisions through ethical dilemmas
that deal with issues such as insanity, rape, paranoia, and genocide.Įllison
wrote the 130-page script treatment himself alongside David Sears, who decided
to divide each character's story with their own narrative. It takes place in a
dystopian world where a mastermind artificial intelligence named "AM" has
destroyed all of humanity except for five people, whom he has been keeping alive
and torturing for the past 109 years by constructing metaphorical adventures
based on each character's fatal flaws. The game is based on Ellison's short
story of the same title. I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream is a 1995
point-and-click adventure game developed by Cyberdreams and The Dreamers Guild,
co-designed by Harlan Ellison, published by Cyberdreams and distributed by MGM
Interactive.

CARMEN MARIA MACHADO HER BODY AND OTHER PARTIES

5/29/2023

Machado uses genre mashups to her absolute advantage, flitting between horror,
sci-fi, fan fiction and psychological realism to terrifying avail on the right
side of camp. Cutting stories between 90s American suburbia and a burrowing
insect infestation with sharp social commentary. Carmen Maria Machado’s debut
short story collection takes the folk tales of childhood and paints them in
millennial punk rock bisexual acid tones for our reading pleasure.

These words uttered from the first story of ‘Her Body and Other Parties’ may be
the collection’s most apt as it kicks off a spooky queer chain letter of eerie
secrets in shopping malls, folk horror, creepy Hitchcock-esque artists retreats,
nightmares and TV shows retold with the familiarity of ghost stories that is
near impossible to put down.

LESSONS BOOK BY IAN MCEWAN

5/29/2023

The novel - a rich, anguished tale of guilt and forgiveness - sold more than 2
million copies and became a BAFTA-winning film starring Keira Knightley and
James McAvoy. His early novels were slick, slender texts that shunned the
class-ridden tropes of contemporary English fiction in favor of darker, more
Freudian motifs - incest in The Cement Garden (1978), murder and sadomasochism
in The Comfort of Strangers (1981).Ītonement, published in 2001, was a landmark
moment in the rise of McEwan’s public profile. McEwan won the Booker Prize in
1998 for Amsterdam, and the New Yorker anointed him as “ England’s national
author” in 2009.

Instead of delivering a literary manifesto in defense of liberal democracy,
McEwan ends up revealing his own creative exhaustion and sense of bewilderment
at the world. The result is a labored exercise in boomer agitprop. His latest
offering, Lessons, is an attempt to track the life story of its fictional
protagonist through the turbulence of postwar British and European history. Ian
McEwan is one of Britain’s most prominent novelists. Review of Lessons: A Novel
by Ian McEwan (Knopf, 2022)
