With the changing of the seasons, Shades find their Vessels, and a crop of new
Mara irrupts into Otherside.
THE VESSELS DESCEND

The Vessel shower is sacred to Kodas. One vessel will fall upon every Otherdeed.

SHADES FIND VESSELS

During the shower, the glowing Obelisk wakes the Shades. These spirits glide
across the landscape, each one claiming a Vessel for shelter.
Some Vessels are more hospitable than others. Those that reject their
shelter-seekers and rupture can become corrupted. Handle them with extreme
caution.

Enchanter-Vessel-hatched Mara grant buffs and bonuses.
farmer
Farmer-Vessel-hatched Mara harvest Fragments from Otherdeeds.
hunter
Hunter-Vessel-hatched Mara fend off violent threats to Otherdeeds.

THE VESSELS

Three types of Vessels are hospitable to Shades— Enchanters, Farmers, and
Hunters. Which type of Vessel will land on your Otherdeed?

A Mara’s abilities derive from its Vessel type.

The Odiac

Mara evolution is tied to a celestial coordinate system, the Otherside Odiac.
The Otherside Odiac is divided into Seasons.

Evolution
Afterlife
Abyss
Each Season corresponds to five Otherside constellations.


SEASONAL CATALYSTS


When a Mara ingests a seasonal Catalyst, it evolves into a Kodamara that takes
on traits possessed by that Catalyst.
Nearly all Catalysts possess traits that belong to one or another of the
Season’s constellations. Only the most uncommon kind of Catalysts—the Hybrid
Catalysts—possess traits that belong to two.

SEDIMENT FRAGMENTS


Fragments, which can be fed to Mara, are derived from an Otherdeed’s sediment.
Genesis Kodas and Farmer Mara can be attached to Otherdeeds to harvest them.
A Kodamara’s traits are affected by the Fragments it ingested as a Mara.
