Under the guidance of Hubei province, Wuhan city, and East Lake High-tech
district, Wuhan Institute of Biotechnology and Hubei Science and Technology
Investment Group jointly established Wuhanbiobank with the overall plan of
"government leadership, multi-participation, integration of regional resources,
openness and sharing" and the construction model of "1+N" (i.e. one main bank
and multiple branch banks) to build a national science and technology
infrastructure and a sharing service platform for science and technology

SHU HONGBING, PRESIDENT OF WUHAN BIOTECHNOLOGY RESEARCH INSTITUTE

On May 19, Shu Hongbing, an academician of the CAS Member and president of the
Medical Research Institute of Wuhan University, arrived as president of Wuhan
Biotechnology Research Institute, committed to promoting the Institute to build
a national innovation platform. Han Jin, secretary of the Party Committee of
Wuhan University, Zhao Xuemei, deputy secretary of the Party Committee, and Zhu
Deyou, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and head of the
Organization Department, attended the appointment of academician Shu Hongbing.
Liu Jie, member of the Standing Committee of the Wuhan Municipal Party Committee
and secretary of the East Lake High-tech Zone Working Committee, issued the
letter of appointment, Shen Yangdong, deputy director of the East Lake High-tech
Zone Management Committee, read out the appointment documents, and Feng Li,
deputy director, presided over the appointment activities. Wuhan Biotechnology
Research Institute is the first new industrial technology research institute in
Hubei, led by Wuhan University, integrating the scientific and technological
resources in the biological field of universities and institutes in Wuhan, and
established in the East Lake High-tech Zone. It has become an important carrier
for undertaking major national scientific and technological tasks and an
important platform for the integration of scientific and technological
innovation resources in the biological field of provinces and cities. More than
180 enterprises have been born and more than 300 scientific research
achievements have been translated. At present, the East Lake High-tech Zone is
struggling to build the Hubei East Lake Science City and build a global life and
health science and technology innovation center, of which Wuhan Biotechnology
Research Institute is an important part. At the meeting, Han Jin introduced
several measures and institutional arrangements of Wuhan University to promote
the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. He said that
the East Lake High-tech Zone has huge development potential and multiple
national strategic opportunities. It is an important partner of Wuhan University
to accelerate the construction of "double first-class". Wuhan Institute of
Biotechnology, Wuhan Institute of Navigation, and the satellite signal ground
receiving station have all settled in the Optical Valley. Wuhan University will,
based on its own advantages, strengthen the transformation of scientific and
technological achievements, transform technology into real productive forces,
and directly serve the economic and social development of Optics Valley. Liu Jie
thanked Wuhan University for its long-term strong support for Optics Valley and
its deep participation in the technological innovation and industrial
development of Optics Valley. The High-tech Zone warmly welcomed Academician Shu
Hongbing to the post, and hoped that Wuhan Institute of Biotechnology would
actively invest in the construction of Hubei East Lake Science City, constantly
attract and gather high-end talents, and gradually become a new force of the
national strategic scientific and technological force, and an important source
of technological innovation in the biological industry, Help Optics Valley build
a global life and health technology innovation center. After the meeting,
Academician Shu Hongbing and Secretary Liu Jie visited Wuhan National Human
Genetic Resources Library (hereinafter referred to as "Wuhan Sample Library").
Zhang Hanrui, general manager of Wuhan Sample Library, introduced the
construction and operation of Wuhan Sample Library. Academician Shu Hongbing is
mainly engaged in the research of immune-related cell signal transduction. He
and his team are tackling key technologies of cell and gene therapy.

NEW YEAR'S DAY | WUHAN SAMPLE LIBRARY IS RECOGNIZED AS A HIGH-TECH ENTERPRISE

According to the relevant provisions of the Administrative Measures for the
Identification of High-tech Enterprises (GKFH [2016] No. 32) and the Guidelines
for the Identification and Management of High-tech Enterprises (GKFH [2016] No.
195), the National Leading Community Office for the Identification and
Management of High-tech Enterprises issued the "Notice on the Filing and
Publicity of the Fifth Batch of High-tech Enterprises Identified by the Hubei
Provincial Accreditation Agency in 2022", Wuhan Biological Sample Bank Co., Ltd.
(hereinafter referred to as "Wuhan Sample Bank") is recognized as a high-tech
enterprise. High-tech enterprises refer to resident enterprises that have been
registered in China (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) for more than one
year by continuously carrying out research and development and transformation of
technological achievements, forming core independent intellectual property
rights of enterprises, and carrying out business activities on this basis within
the "High-tech Fields Supported by the State". It is a knowledge-intensive and
technology-intensive economic entity. In the future, Wuhan sample bank will
further promote the conservation and utilization of human genetic resources and

GOOD NEWS | WUHAN SAMPLE LIBRARY WON TWO QUALIFICATION EVALUATIONS!

1、 Wuhan sample library was approved by Wuhan Enterprise R&D Center On November
11, 2022, Wuhan Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology issued the Notice on
Publishing the First Batch of Wuhan Enterprise Research and Development Center
Filing List in 2022 (WK [2022] No. 98), and the enterprise research and
development center of Wuhan Biological Sample Bank Co., Ltd. was recognized at
the municipal level. Wuhan Enterprise Research and Development Center
(hereinafter referred to as "R&D Center") is a relatively independent scientific
and technological research and development specialized organization established
within the enterprise, mainly engaged in the research and development of new
technologies, new products, new processes and new materials, and promoting the
industrialization and application of scientific and technological achievements.
Wuhan Biological Sample Library will effectively strengthen the construction and
management of the research and development center, give full play to the
supporting role of the research and development center in improving the
technological innovation ability, and make positive contributions to the
economic and social development of Wuhan. 2、 Wuhan sample library won the
recognition of "Optics Valley Gazelle" enterprise in 2022 On November 4, 2022,
the Science and Technology Innovation Bureau of Wuhan East Lake High-tech Zone
issued the Notice on Publicizing the List of Enterprises to Be Identified as
"Optics Valley Gazelle" in 2022, and Wuhan Biological Sample Library was
successfully listed. "Gazelle enterprises" refer to small and medium-sized
enterprises that have crossed the Death Valley and entered a high growth period
with the support of technological innovation or business model innovation. The
scope of identification is mainly that the industrial field conforms to the
development direction of national and provincial strategic emerging industries,
covering emerging industries, new generation information technology, biological
health, artificial intelligence, financial technology, energy conservation and
environmental protection, consumption upgrading and other fields, also known as
"high growth enterprises". Such enterprises have the characteristics of
