Our focus spans several key areas, including environmental health, transportation, and the creation and preservation of open spaces. We aim to address the unique challenges facing our neighborhood through community-driven initiatives. ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH We lead efforts to reduce lead contamination in soil, ensuring that our environment is safe for all residents. Our projects include soil testing, education on safe practices, and advocacy for clean-up efforts. TRANSPORTATION Our organization advocates for safe, sustainable, and efficient transportation options in North Brooklyn. We work with local government and community members to improve public transit, pedestrian safety, and bicycle infrastructure. OPEN SPACES We strive to create and maintain green spaces that provide recreational opportunities and enhance the well-being of our community. This includes working on the development of new parks and the maintenance of existing ones. SUPERFUND SITES North Brooklyn Neighbors plays a crucial role in managing Superfund sites, ensuring that contaminated areas are properly cleaned and rehabilitated. We work closely with federal and state agencies to monitor progress and advocate for the community’s interests. COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT We believe in the power of community action. Volunteering with us is a great way to get involved and make a difference. Our projects rely on the active participation of local residents, and we offer numerous opportunities for volunteerism. SUPPORT AND DONATIONS Our work is supported by generous donations from individuals and businesses. Contributions help us fund our projects and expand our reach. We encourage everyone who values a vibrant, healthy community to consider supporting our efforts. Together, we can make North Brooklyn a better place to live, work, and play.
