Drac's car was a much-deserved POTM winner, and he was very active here at CVN for several years, having contributed lots of great tech information along the way. He also was very active in spreading the Panther platform in his area, taking his car to shows and helping others work on their cars. 2 Views · 0 Comments 02/03/24 01:43 AM POTM February 2024 - benw's 1998 Crown Victoria by a_d_a_m POTM February 2024 - benw's 1998 Crown Victoria Originally Posted By benw 1998 P71 medium graphite metallic 175-176k Conical air fillter 04 P71 ziptube E-250 throttle body Trick flow throttle elbow Accel coils BBK shorty headers Magnaflow high flow cats no secondary cats no resonators stock dual exhaust cat back SCT X-CAL4 canned tune 04 sport transmission with 11” 155k torque converter 3.27 track-lok from factory Energy suspension sway bar and endlink bushings S197 rear springs and shocks to slightly lower S197 mustang gt fanblades with 1.5” front 2” rear spacers. 95 lx dash trim 04 headrests Autodim rear view mirror Tremor by pioneer speakers, sub, head unit from 04 ranger Upcoming plans: 95 lx two tone door panels Continental center console and shifter (need console lid still) Pi heads and/or cams Edelbrock victor jr intake manifold Non stock dual exhaust Bilstein shocks Billet rear control arms Recent work: New fuel pump, hanger, fuel filter New hvac air inlet gasket and drip tube gasket. My 2002 Crown Vic LX sport: Purchased in the heart of Covid on govdeals from Sevier County TN Sheriff's department. The ad didn't say much out of the norm besides "aftermarket exhaust" which I assumed meant they maybe replaced the mufflers. Well the bid went up a bunch at the end and I was committed, I thought I paid more than I should have, that was, until I popped the hood to jump off the car (dead battery) to load it on my trailer. My friend that came with me was like "dude this thing has stainless works longtubes!" Well, it did in fact have stainless works longtubes... and the ENTIRE manifold to tailpipe kit! I paid basically what that whole kit retails for now, FOR THE ENTIRE CAR. Mods: -All new front end (control arms, sway bar end links, tie rod ends, idler and pitman arm) -Red head steering gear -Heinous billet rear control arms -Full Stainless works longtube to tailpipe exhaust (free with purchase of car) -Powder coated 16" steelies (front) -Powder coated 15X10 Weld draglites (rear) with 275/60-15 nitto tire -Marauder interior The Marauder interior was taken from a salvage title donor marauder I bought (paid $850 for the entire car, had no wheels, driveline, or rear end, and was filled with squirrel sh*t). Spent weeks cleaning it, transplanting all the seats, door panels (had to rewire all the door locks and window switches which was a freaking task!) and the rods for the interior door handles. Also had to cut some sun visor mounts in the roof and weld into this car so I could convert to the 3 screw mounted style visors (tricky as hell) because the stock 2 screw visors were tan and I had some good used charcoal visors from a p71. As far as I know, there wasn't anything 98-02 that had a black/charcoal headliner except some 02 LX sports? Also got the stock headliner re done to match the marauder color. The car is an LX sport so that made the front bucket seats, electric controls, and center console swap much easier (basically a bolt in). The reason for the mardauer interior swap was because the original tan (or whatever its called) was thrashed and it had flat steel panels for the rear inner door panels, no handles or anything. I couldn't wrap my mind around why an LX sport with stainless longtubes was used for prisoner transport. I asked the sheriff who I got the title from if they knew any back story on the car and he said the car was donated to the sheriffs department a while back, maybe 7-10 years earlier? Plans for the car: I have and aluminum (WAP block) built with ported stock PI 2v heads, a torque tech kit, used m112 blower, holley terminator x max, built 4R70w, and a circle D triple disk, and I'll probably put this in soon (this winter/spring) as the (assuming) stock 263K mile PI motor has developed a wicked misfire and I'm not putting a dime into this engine. Key: Admin, Global Mod, Mod Shout Box MMitchell75: i've tried to buy 3 differnt cars this week and missed by a day or two! MMitchell75: Just bought a 2006 LX sport any advice? MMitchell75: Bueller? a_d_a_m: I mean, what sort of advice? Maintenance? Cosmetic mods? HP gains? It's a pretty open-ended question... Richardw72: Completely redid the audio in my 92CVLX. A Pioneer DEH6700MP (dolphin pioneer) headunit. And Infinity Reference speakers all the way around. Richardw72: When I was younger my dad had one of these head units in his 2000 F150. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I knew when I’d get my dream car (a CV) id add one. And I did it. It’s still as cool as it was back then. Richardw72: It’s rained real bad the past few days here in PA. I haven’t driven my car since it’s rained. Well I got in it yesterday and there was a lot of water on the driver side floorboard of my car and all along the bottom of the door. Richardw72: The rubber seals on the door are really brittle and falling apart and coming loose from the door. So I suppose it’s time to replace that. fofojoe: check your firewall too, common spot is the hood latch grommet. If you pull the carpet back a bit you might see a rusty trail. Old_Guy_Stu: fiat lux PrincePolaris: My 1990 CV has survived Route 129, tail of the dragon a_d_a_m: Very cool, I think I saw some posts about it on Facebook ^ rivahmon: Ah,Tail of the Dragon what a blast with more curves than you can count. Carved in in my XKR with Pirelli's but don't think I have the stones to do it with a Panther! Florida_Mike: Turn right. Turn left. Repeat 159 times in 11 miles. a_d_a_m: Haven't done the Dragon yet. I did The Snake (US 421) in a '62 C10........in the pouring rain....that was wicked Richardw72: Took my CV to get an inspection this morning. Failed for small holes in the pipe. Past the muffler Richardw72: Thankfully for the old girl that’s all that’s wrong with her, except for some here and there stuff. CurlyBaby: How do I make a post? rivahmon: US 421 Snake looks interesting, maybe more than the Dragon Richardw72: So I took a closer look at the exhaust and who ever had this car before I did, weld the rear exhaust pipe hanger to the hanger on the frame. No rubber bushing. And if that isn’t the only ghetto thing.. I replaced all the lights in my car with LED’s… Richardw72: … and I kept seeing things about glove box light. I thought hey, maybe there isn’t one for my specific model. There was a green wire hanging in the dash that I had something touch it and shorted all my interior lights… come to find out there IS a…. Richardw72: Glovebox light… but it was shattered in the slot and whoever had it, it probably kept shorting and they just cut the wire so it wouldn’t… so I’ll have to stop at a junkyard sometime and pull out a glove box plug with the wire and splice it up. Richardw72: Got my parts today from Rockauto but I got all the exhaust hardware but Instead of getting an exhaust pipe for a Crown Vic. I got like 15 windshield wipers and some power steering lines to a jeep. They want to charge me $21 to return the parts... Richardw72: I replaced the exhaust pipe today. Way harder than it needed to be but thats working on cars for you. My insrument cluster has been having alot of issue's lately.. aside from the gas gauge. Now the turn signal and high beam lights barely stay on and... Richardw72: flicker. While I was pulling my car into the shop. it died and the battery was dead. The terminals are really shot and the battery is from 2017. So I dont know if thats what could cause the gauges to act funny. But thats another part on the list! Richardw72: Replaced the battery today. The turn signal indicators or the highbeam indicator don’t light up anymore. Not cause of the Battery.. even before that. LordAeneas: I once had a battery go bad in my mustang. The plates were internally arcing and voltage was jumping all over the place. The instrument cluster would flicker with the gauges bouncing around and the lights internally and externally were going on and off. Sending...
