HEALTH & NUTRITION


FOOD PANTRY

Emergency Food Services for families in crisis, provides a 3-to-5-day food
supply.  Proof of address may be required.

(Available in Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Hamilton, Humboldt, O'Brien,
Osceola, Palo Alto, Pocahontas, Webster & Wright counties.)


OTHER FOOD PROGRAMS

Bread, surplus food items, meat and produce (seasonally) are available to
registered families once a week.  Items vary day to day. 

(Available in Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Hamilton, Humboldt, O'Brien,
Osceola, Palo Alto, Pocahontas, Webster & Wright counties.)

USDA NON-DISCRIMINATION STATEMENT


FOOD FOR LIFE

Provides meat every other month to families with income at or below 150% of the
federal poverty level.  Income verification required. 

(Available in Clay County only.)


CACFP

The UDMO Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a federal program that
reimburses participating child development homes for serving healthy meals and
snacks to children in care settings.

(Available in Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, Palo
Alto, Pocahontas & Sioux counties.)

1ST FIVE

The UDMO 1st Five Program supports health providers in the earlier detection of
social-emotional and developmental delays and family risk-related factors in
children birth to 5 and coordinates referrals, interventions and follow-up.

(Available in Calhoun, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Hamilton, Hardin, Humboldt,
O’Brien, Osceola, Palo Alto, Pocahontas, Webster, & Wright counties.)

THE FREE CLINIC

The Free Clinic provides medical services for the uninsured and underinsured who
have acute health needs. The clinic meets on the second Tuesday of each month at
the First Christian Church in Estherville. Check-in is between 5:30 and 6:15
p.m. There are no appointments. While the clinic is located in Estherville, it
provides services to anyone who has need. For more information, stop by the
clinic or call 712-209-1213.
