<p><strong>Support for our residential mortgage customers</strong></p>
<p>The government has announced it's support for those struggling with their mortgage payments, with the Mortgage Charter.</p>
<p>We'll be sharing more details about how we will be supporting this soon.</p>
<p>But in the meantime, you may be able to <a href="/existing-customers/questions/#mortgage-rate">reduce your monthly mortgage payments</a>.</p>
<p>The mortgage charter does not currently apply to Buy to Let mortgages.</p>
<p><strong>Homes for Ukraine</strong></p>
<p>If you're planning to support the government scheme to house Ukrainian refugees, we're supporting you by making the process as simple as possible.</p>
<p>You won't need to notify us if you're providing:</p>
<ul>
<li style="padding: 0 0 0 10px;">• a room(s) in your own home (current limit of 2 lodgers will not apply)</li>
<li style="padding: 0 0 0 10px;">• a residential property you own (there's no need to request consent to lease but you'll need to obtain a tenancy agreement)</li>
<li style="padding: 0 0 0 10px;">• your Buy To Let property (normal mortgage and letting conditions apply, and you need to obtain a tenancy agreement).</li>
</ul>
<p>It's important you consider whether by providing this support you are still able to afford your household bills, pay your mortgage and it doesn't put you in financial difficulty. You may wish to look at any government guidance issued.

<p>You should also check with your building/contents insurer to see if you need their consent.</p>
<p><strong>Birmingham Midshires mortgages</strong></p>
<p>With effect from 11th September 2021, we are changing the way we manage some Birmingham Midshires mortgages. If you are impacted by this change, we will write to you in the following weeks to explain what's changed, including your new
account number. You will receive this letter by mid-October, if you have any queries, please call us on 0345 300 2627.</p>

<p>Birmingham Midshires no longer offers mortgage products direct to customers. This includes servicing existing customers with product transfers, further advances and mainstream mortgages.</p>
