Griswold Elementary School kicked off the 2024 Read-A-Thon on Thursday night
with Family Reading Night. Now it's up to you to help GES reach the
school-wide goal of 30,000 minutes read!

GES has distributed instructions to sign up for the online time log and
donation portal (https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/TXIREN). If you choose
not to activate your child's online account, you can use the Read-A-Thon Log
sent home on Thursday. The recording of minutes allows your child to see
their personal progress and how much they’ve accomplished, fostering a sense
of achievement! Every minute logged helps us get closer to our school-wide
   reading goal.

Our ultimate goal is to make reading FUN and EXCITING for these young minds!
Thank you for helping GES reach its goal and making reading a celebrated part
   of our school culture.

Last week, Griswold Elementary School kicked off the 2024 Read-A-Thon with
Family Reading Night. Now it's up to you to help GES reach the school-wide
goal of 30,000 minutes read by March 21! All GES families should have
information for their student's reading log or online account. Our ultimate
goal is to make reading FUN and EXCITING for our students. Thank you to
everyone who helped and attended Family Reading Night. It was so nice to
bring back this cherished tradition for the first time since 2019.

On Friday, March 1, Griswold Elementary School hosted Town Hall Meetings for
students in grades K-2 and 3-4. Led by Social Emotional Interventionist Aimee
Boyd-Hall, students reviewed "What it means to be a Wolverine" and shared
some SEL activities that have recently happened across the school. The main
event was recapping their most recent character trait, Integrity, and
introducing the next one, Responsibility. Mrs. Strout's class even performed
"The Integrity Song" during the K-2 assembly.

Students thanked the school support star of the month, School
Resource/Security Officer Mr. Jim Collins, and Principal Bordeau helped
celebrate student bucket-fillers in each grade and acknowledge students with
   great attendance in February.

We're so grateful to be able to host events like this in our school
   community!

National Read Across America Day was Saturday, March 2. To celebrate,
Griswold Elementary School has had some special guest readers, including CT
State Representative Brian Lanoue and CT State Senator Heather Somers.

On Tuesday, Senator Somers visited the GES Library Media Center and read two
books to Mrs. Davis's third-grade class. The students loved learning about
the "Wishing Chair" in the Senate Chamber of the State Capitol and listening
to the books. Thank you for stopping by!
