facility is one of the largest freestanding multidisciplinary academic spine

MINIMALLY INVASIVE SPINE SURGERY

The world-renowned surgeons at Texas Back Institute in the Dallas area have
practiced minimally invasive cervical and lumbar spine surgery since the 1990s.
Since our founding in 1977, we’ve focused intently on developing surgical
techniques that produce the best possible outcomes for our patients and their
families. When we talk about minimally invasive surgery, it’s not just a
buzzword; it accomplishes the task through small incisions, causing less trauma
to the muscles. It makes a difference in our patients’ lives, reducing recovery
time and complications

MOTION-PRESERVING DISC REPLACEMENT

An innovative alternative to traditional spine fusion surgery, disc replacement
surgery replaces the damaged disc with a prosthesis that allows the patient to
retain a normal range of motion. A fusion permanently joins the vertebrae that
sit above and below a damaged intervertebral disc, restricting movement.
Compared to a fusion, disc replacement also typically enables patients to return
more quickly to their families and reduces the risk of needing additional
surgery. Texas Back Institute surgeons were the first to perform lumbar disc
replacement in the US in 2000, and are recognized experts on cervical and lumbar
arthroplasty. We have performed thousands of disc replacements, and implanted
more than a dozen types of artificial discs, establishing ourselves as a leader
in artificial disc surgery.
