THE PARTS OF THE MEDICARE PROGRAM

Medicare is a federal insurance program that provides health insurance for
people 65 and older and individuals younger than 65 who may qualify due to
certain disabilities. There are four different parts to Medicare — Part A, B, C,
and D. Click the icons below to learn more about each part!

PART A
PART B
PART C
PART D

WHAT IS MEDICARE PART A?

Medicare Part A is inpatient and hospital insurance. Part A coverage applies to:

 * Inpatient hospital care
 * Skilled nursing facility care
 * Hospice care
 * Some home health care

WHAT IS MEDICARE PART B?

Medicare Part B is outpatient medical insurance. Part B coverage applies to:

 * Services from doctor
 * Outpatient care
 * Durable medical equipment
 * Preventative services
 * Some home health care

WHAT IS MEDICARE PART C?

Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage) is privately managed, federally approved
Medicare plans. Part C plans combine the benefits of Part A and B into one plan
and may also include:

 * Prescription drug coverage
 * Additional benefits

WHAT IS MEDICARE PART D?

Medicare Part D plans provide beneficiaries with privately managed, federally
approved prescription drug coverage. Medicare Part A and B don’t offer
prescription drug coverage, so Part D helps:

 * Manage prescription drug costs
 * Provide lower cost-sharing for in-network and preferred pharmacies
