The DPS is a nationwide society whose aim is to keep in operational order, three
of the legendary 100mph Deltic diesel locomotives, the precursor of high speed
rail travel in the UK.

Formed in 1977, the DPS has three locomotives in its custodianship; 55009
Alycidon is main line certificated for operating tours on the national system,
55019 Royal Highland Fusilier is not main line passed, (but will be in the
future) and regularly visits heritage railways for gala events and D9015 Tulyar
- nearing completion of a mammoth rebuild.

The Society has its own depot at Barrow Hill Roundhouse Museum, Staveley,
Derbyshire. We welcome members of all backgrounds – ‘armchair’ who support the
society from home or ‘hands-on’ who would like to work on the locomotives. Do
join us!
