THE TEMPLE

Be it the architecture, the rituals, the legends or the atmosphere, the temple
has something very beautiful. “Randumurthy” Temple located on the banks of
Shokamsini River in Tiruvalathur occupies an important position among the 108
Durga temples in Kerala.
Sri Dulumurthy Bhagavatikshetra is a famous temple located on the bank of
Kandypuzha, a tributary of Bharathapuzha, in Tiruvalathur village of Kodump
panchayat, near Palakkad city in Palakkad district.

The Temple got the name ‘Two-Murthy Bhagavatikshetra’ because it is a temple
that resides in two forms as the Adiparashakti Jagadambika as the Supreme
Goddess Mahishasuramardini and Annapurneswari as the Shanthaswarupini. This
temple is one of the hundred and eight Durgalayas. Standing in a scenic setting,
this temple is the crowning glory of Kerala architecture. It is a rare sight
with two shrines of equal size, two flagpoles and two nalampalams. Shiva,
Parvati, Ganapati, Ayyappan, Sri Krishna, Sankara Narayan, Vihainhakala and Naga
deities also reside in the temple as sub-deities. The main festivals of the
temple are the ten-day festival on Rohini day in the month of Scorpio and
Trikartika which falls in between. Navratri is also special.
This grand temple is under the Malabar Devaswom Board.
