BOOK YOUR COVID-19 BOOSTER VACCINATION

Boosters are now approved for everyone 16 years and older, 3 months after your
second dose. You need a Booster to stay up to date with your COVID-19
vaccinations.

Boosters increase your protection against becoming very sick or dying from
COVID-19, and are available through your GP, Pharmacist or other healthcare
professional.

 * TGA PROVISIONALLY APPROVES MODERNA COVID-19 VACCINE FOR PEOPLE 6 YEARS AND
   OLDER
   
   The TGA has provisionally approved the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine for use in
   individuals aged 6 years and older.
   
   The decision follows the provisional approvals granted by the TGA for the use
   of Moderna vaccine in individuals aged 12 years and older on 3 September
   2021, and on 7 December 2021 the Moderna vaccine booster dose for use in
   adults 18 years and older.
   
   As for other age groups, the use of this vaccine in children aged 6-11 years
   should be administered as 2 doses at least 28 days apart. The same vaccine
   preparation employed for older age groups will be used, however, a lower dose
   will be given to children 6-11 years, compared to the dose used for those 12
   years and older.
   
   Immunisation experts will provide further advice to Government on the rollout
   of the Moderna vaccine to this age group.


 * COVID-19 NOVAVAX VACCINE NOW AVAILABLE
   
   From Monday 14 February 2022, the Novavax vaccine will be available through
   select general practices, community pharmacies and state clinics across the
   country.
   
   Australia's immunisation experts recommends Novavax for people aged 18 years
   and older for their primary course of vaccination, with two doses to be
   administered three weeks apart.
   
   
   Novavax does not currently have approval to be used for paediatric patients,
   or for booster shots, but studies into its use for both are ongoing.


 * NATIONAL CABINET: 10 FEBRUARY 2022
   
   National Cabinet met today to discuss Australia’s response to COVID-19 and
   the Omicron variant, the ongoing safe reopening of Australia, resumption of
   cruising in Australia, approaches to test, trace isolate and quarantine and
   the vaccine rollout and booster programme.

 * TGA APPROVED COVID-19 RAPID ANTIGEN SELF-TESTS
   
   The TGA has approved the following COVID-19 self-tests (home use tests) for
   supply in Australia.


 * NATIONAL COVID-19 VACCINE CLAIM SCHEME
   
   National Scheme will offer quick access to compensation for COVID-19 claims
   related to the administration of a TGA-approved COVID-19 vaccine delivered
   through a Commonwealth Government approved program.

   The Vaccine Administration Partners Program will establish a panel of

   Antibody-based therapies are widely used to treat several infectious
   diseases, as well as autoimmune diseases and cancer.


 * STUDENT VISA WORKFORCE TO SUPPORT AGED CARE SECTOR
   
   Skilled workforce for aged care will be strengthened with an extension of the
   ability for student visa holders to work longer hours across the sector in
   the ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic.


 * TGA APPROVES NEW COVID-19 TREATMENT FOR USE IN AUSTRALIA
   
   Sotrovimab will provide further options to protect vulnerable Australians at
   risk of developing severe COVID-19.


 * EXTENDING COVID-19 VACCINE ACCESS FOR OUR REGION
   
   $130 million committed to the COVAX AMC to deliver vaccines to countries in
   the region.
