Today, LTA now offers the community a comprehensive schedule of classes for all
ages in addition to an award winning summer camp program for kids.ĭuring the
years of World War II, the Theatre was inactive. In the 1980s, LTA began to
offer classes in performing arts in addition to it’s already full schedule of
shows. Today, LTA is the oldest award-winning theater in the Washington metro
area and one of the few community theaters in the country with its own building
and an ambitious seven-show season. In the 1970s, LTA formally purchased the
land from the City of Alexandria.

A later addition included more shop space and the Council Green Room. A west
wing was added five years later to accommodate dressing rooms, a sewing room, a
rehearsal hall, and a carpenter shop. The theatre building was finally
completed, and the first production – the comedy Send Me No Flowers – opened on
November 18, 1961. At first, the City of Alexandria generously agreed to rent
the space to LTA for $1 per year. Asaph Streets became the permanent home of
LTA. During the 1950s, an empty lot at the corner of Wolfe and St. In late 1945,
the theatre resumed normal operations. In a time of war rationing, theater
seemed like a luxury that was best set aside until peace returned. Bush made LTA
his first Washington-area theatrical outing when he came to see his
sister-in-law perform in Neil Simon’s Proposals.ĭuring the early 1940s, with war

defensive storyline. 3 overall pick Jeff Okudah, who missed all of the 2021
season with an Achilles tear, could play a prominent role. where he and his
former D-line mates were last seen battling a beetle.

Michael Brockers is a Hard Knocks veteran thanks to his time in L.A. There are
some interesting young pieces like Amani Oruwariye and former first-round pick
Charles Harris, who is coming off a career year. However, the group did show
signs of improvement down the stretch.

The Lions operated one of the worst defenses in the NFL in 2021, struggling to
generate a consistent pass rush and getting picked apart on the back end.
Focusing time on a female owner would also help freshen Hard Knocks' formulaic
model that has become predictable and sometimes dry. While that will never
happen, Hard Knocks provides Ford Hamp a chance to reach those fans - and others
- and show that her brand of ownership and direction differs from her parents',
building on the optimism emanating from the locker room. For years, a particular
sect of Detroit fans has called for new ownership to take over the cyclically
struggling club. Hard Knocks would provide an excellent opportunity to learn
more of her perspective and plans for rebuilding the Lions. That should not only
be highlighted, but celebrated. As an owner of one of 32 multi-billion-dollar
NFL teams, Ford Hamp is in a select group of women who hold power in a
male-dominated sports landscape. While no one expects her to become the next
Jerry Jones, Hard Knocks is the perfect opportunity for the owner to step into
the forefront. Since taking over, Ford Hamp has been slightly more open, sitting
for media interviews and discussing her visions of the perennially rebuilding
Lions. and later Martha Firestone Ford shunned the spotlight, often leading
Lions fans to ponder the club's direction. Sheila Ford Hamp's media-averse
parents famously ran the Lions out of the limelight. Heck, he's probably the
main reason the cameras will be in Detroit in the first place. There is no
question Campbell will be the focus of the Hard Knocks crew. Now, Year 2 brings
a different sort of challenge. Campbell and his coaching staff maximized a
talent-poor roster in Year 1. In his first year, the 45-year-old proved to be a
smart leader who wasn't afraid to make tough decisions and whose players fought
tooth and nail despite being underdogs every time they hit the gridiron. Players
WANT to go to battle with a coach like Campbell. There is a genuine quality to
the second-year coach that emanates throughout the roster. Sure, he'll provide
uncanny quotes about " biting kneecaps," but Campbell isn't some meathead who
rah-rah'd his way into a job. The burly coach's jacked biceps are only matched
by his interminable enthusiasm. Campbell is the perfect leading actor for HBO to
revolve its football show around. Get ready for a shot of caffeine each episode
with the double-Starbucks-fisting, venti-coffee-chugging coach who reverberates
enough energy to light up all of Corktown.

Pickleball is a fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton, and
ping pong. Upbeat barre is a muscular endurance-based workout that fuses
strength training, ballet, yoga, and pilates with popular music to create a
sweaty, fun, and balanced workout with varying levels of intensity to include
everyone. Dance Fit with Trishĭance fitness program that is a mix of explosive
dancing and boot camp toning.

It's fun, effective, and a great way to get your cardio in!
Monday/Wednesday/Friday at 9 am. We use music from all genres and decades. High
Fitness consists of simplified aerobic moves with added HIIT, toning, and Barre
moves mixed in. High FitnessĪ fun new twist on traditional aerobics. Two classes
offered every Wednesday at 1pm and 2pm. Learning basic steps like the vine, rock
steps, waltz, weave and cha-cha. It’s a fun class using all kinds of music.

 * Community Yoga (Free): Saturday at 8:30 amĪ free class that is open to anyone
   who wants to learn how to line dance.
 * Chair Yoga: Monday/Wednesday/Friday at 10:30 am.
 * Gentle Flow Yoga: Tuesday/Thursday at 10:30 am.
 * Adult Yoga: Monday/Wednesday at 6:45 pm.
 * Yoga is a great way to improve your posture, range of motion and functional
   strength. Yoga is a form of exercise with focus on breath and relaxation.
   This instructional class is geared towards members ages 13 – 16 to provide
   access to weight room equipment, and is offered by appointment only. All
   sessions are located in the Pilates Reformer studio located between the
   Womens locker room and Personal Training studio at the Student Recreation
   Center. The beautifully designed facility is home to the City of Gulf Shores
   Recreation Division offices and is the hub for all recreational athletic and

Any snow boots or hiking shoes will work. We recommend wool or wool blend socks
to keep your feet warm.

Some folks like to carry a small day pack with water and an extra clothing
layer. Hats, gloves/mittens, goggles and face masks are also recommended if
frigid. We recommend checking the weather forecast the day of your event! One
thing that can ruin a snowshoe outing is not wearing the appropriate clothing!
Dressing in layers or in clothes you can unzip and ventilate is ideal.
Snowshoeing is a great group activity so gather your friends/family to join you
on the mountain! However, larger groups may be accommodated with adequate
notice. Post-adventure drink voucher for Copper Kettle Restaurant and Bar
located at the base of the slopes (hot cocoa or an adult beverage).
