MONGODB PERFORMANCE VS POSTGRES

It was very similar to our example: employees, departments, and
employee_departments tables. So, instead of reinventing the wheel, I will reuse
data from the blog. While writing this blog post, I found another great article
fully dedicated to this topic. While single lookups are more or less appropriate
with the considerations above, joining with conditions and subqueries on a
joined collection brings a number of restrictions, and both - execution and
design complexity. Instead, it is considered a best practice to save manual id
references in one collections document and add indexes on the joining collection
field to optimize the lookup. But MongoDB schema design advice is to avoid
joins, as it is a heavy operation to join collections and does not have
supported foreign keys for it as is. The next “relational” operation is joining
multiple collections, which is one of the easy and common operations for
relational databases.įor “joining” two collections MongoDB has a $lookup
operator. The last way is to store group ids in a user document and user ids in
a group document, and as you see, we have duplication and we need to deal with
update/delete anomalies. If you decide to go with embedding and storing user
groups in a user document as an array, then getting user groups will be faster,
but getting group users very slow. If you decide to go with referencing like in
relational design, then for simply fetching group members 2 lookups are needed
and you still have problems with data integrity, since MongoDB doesn’t support
foreign keys. This simple group member relation, which every beginner can create
in relational design is not as simple in MongoDB. And both have their advantages
and limitations. You can either embed that data directly or reference another
piece of data using the $lookup operator (similar to a JOIN). While in MongoDB

with MongoDB for one of our “typical relational” projects that we have developed
for 5+ years. I am not going to compare Relational databases with NoSQL
databases on a feature basis, as you can find many similar posts on the web. And
while MongoDB has some relational DB features, when you start using it for pure
relational purposes problems start appearing over time. The problem is that most
of the typical data stored in databases are by nature relational, for example,
users list, users’ orders, order details, the stores, products, and product
categories. Not at all, MongoDB is one of the most powerful databases currently
available. If you are reading so far, you may think I am writing this post
against MongoDB. At the same time, there are great free relational databases
such as MariaDB and PostgreSQL. MongoDB community server is completely free to
use, however it has also an enterprise edition and there are some limitations on
free usage if you modify source code or offer it as a service.

Myth N4 - MongoDB is free and open source whereas other relational databases are
paid.

Again not a valid point, if you don’t design your schema and migrations
appropriately then you will face real problems later and even more if you have
production data. Myth N3 - Developing with MongoDB is faster since you don’t
have a strict schema design. This is one of the biggest mistakes if you put all
data in the same collection (table) in relational databases, such as MySQL, you
may achieve the same level or even higher performance.

Myth N2-MongoDB is faster than relational databases. It is true that Mongoose is
one of the best ORMs for Node JS, but Node also has very good relational ORMs as
well. Myth N1 - If you are working with Node JS, then you need to choose

is the worst choice for juniors, since starting with MongoDB is very easy, but
as you proceed problems arise fast. MongoDB is one of the most popular databases

From music hall traditions, he created the lead character of "The Chairman", a

OPEN SOURCE POOL CONTROL PANEL

After discussing the issue with Milone I decided that the cost to replace it and
potentially suffer the same problem was not worth the cost of replacement.
UPDATE: Unfortunately for some reason, my Milone eTape suffered from getting
water inside the actual jacket and failed. Milone would be happy to create a
specific sized unit for me as well since none of their sizes would fit where I
wanted to place it. I started to doing research and came along a company that
manufactured a liquid tape measure that changed resistance as the level of the
water (or other liquid) went up or down. A way to fill the pool once the water
was low.A way to measure the level of the water.

Initially, I figured I needed to be able to do two things: I figured with a
Raspberry Pi and a normal sprinkler valve, I would be in business! I purchased
another Pi (I use them all over the place for various projects) and laid out
what I wanted it to do. Now that the physical plant was installed and
operational, I thought it would be nice to be able to fill the pool without
having to get the hose out all of the time. We also got our kitchen back which
ended up being my workshop for the project. There was no other automation beyond
those things.Įventually, we got everything figured out. (My family says I chose
it because I am a pilot and liked the name!) This system would allow me to
convert the pool to a saltwater pool and handle some of the management, mainly
running the saltwater generator when necessary and pumping acid to manage the
pH. I opted for a management system called the Autopilot. Pretty much everything
had to go.Įarly on I had decided to incorporate some automation into the new
pool system. Needless to say, all of that concrete and those pool lines had to
be replaced in order for the project to move forward. We were hit with a few
setbacks, one of which was when they installed the fence they poured concrete
around the lines going from the filter system to the pool. Something needed to
be done and that is when my son's and I decided to overhaul the entire pool
system and write our own code to run it all. While our pool was now looking
crystal clear, the problem remained that the system running the pool was way old
and out of date.
