NEXT MAN UP: CAN DEUCE GET LOOSE IN 2024? After a huge preseason, reality hit for Deuce Vaughn, who had a quiet rookie season. But with RB spot wide open, can Deuce get loose in his second year? DAK PRESCOTT FOCUSED ON NOW AMID CONTRACT TALKS Despite not having a deal in place beyond 2024, Dak Prescott is focused on the present until contract negotiations begin. SPAGNOLA: STRIKING SOME HIGH DEFENSIVE NOTES In his Friday column, Mickey Spagnola hits the high notes on a defense that, with the addition of Mike Zimmer, just might be really good. NEXT MAN UP: COWBOYS NEED MAZI TO MAKE BIG LEAP Despite having a quiet rookie season and now suffering a shoulder injury this offseason, Mazi Smith is being counted on to make a big jump in his second year. HIGH LOW: LACK OF QB SECURITY LEADS TO DALLAS PICK? Until a new deal is done between the Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott, and until it's known what Trey Lance can truly be, questions on possibly using a draft pick at QB will remain. NEXT MAN UP: TIME TO SHINE FOR CHAUNCEY GOLSTON For three years, Chauncey Golston has played both defensive end and tackle. While his position remains unclear, the Cowboys lost two players each at those spots, opening the door for Golston. HIGH LOW: NO PRESSING NEED FOR TE IN COWBOYS' DRAFT There is little concern regarding the tight end position for the Dallas Cowboys as they head toward the 2024 NFL Draft, and there are plenty of reasons why that's true. MICK SHOTS: SLEEVES ROLLED UP WITH DRAFT NEARING The Cowboys are rolling up their sleeves with the draft coming next week, plus, questioning the reasoning of voluntary, adding to the running back room, big wideout bucks and more. NEXT MAN UP: BIG JUMP NEEDED FROM SCHOONMAKER The Cowboys had one tight end make a huge jump in his second season last year. The hope is that Luke Schoonmaker can do the same in 2024. HIGH LOW: COWBOYS CONSIDER ADDING CB DEPTH IN DRAFT Trevon Diggs returns in 2024 to add another powder keg back to the Dallas Cowboys' backfield, but the depth issue at cornerback could be bolstered late in the 2024 NFL Draft. COWBOYS ADD VETERAN RB ROYCE FREEMAN The Cowboys picked up a free agent running back on Tuesday in Royce Freeman, a former third-round pick with nearly 500 rush attempts. NEXT MAN UP: CENTER OR GUARD IN PLAY FOR T.J BASS Versatility is important for all young players and that's why T.J. Bass could have a bigger role in 2024 as he tries to compete at either guard or center. UPDATES: STEPHEN JONES CONFIDENT IN THREE YOUNG OL Don't miss any of the action with our daily updates: news, notes and more throughout the Cowboys' regular season and offseason. HIGH LOW: DEPTH ISSUE AT EDGE DRIVES 2024 DRAFT NEED Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence have the Dallas Cowboys in an elite situation atop their defensive ends depth chart, but free agency exits create a 2024 NFL Draft need. COWBOYS BEGIN 2024 OFFSEASON CONDITIONING PROGRAM As the Dallas Cowboys begin their offseason conditioning, headline names such as Trevon Diggs ramp up their rehab routine with the goal of helping the team get over the hump. NEXT MAN UP: BELL EXPECTED TO MOVE BACK TO SAFETY In two years, Markquese Bell has gone from an undrafted free agent to a productive defensive contributor. Now, he could get the chance to have an even bigger role in Mike Zimmer's defense. DRAFT BLOG: COULD THE PAST AFFECT PLANS AT LB? The 2024 Draft Blog is officially kicked off as Nick Harris and Kyle Youmans dive into the daily ongoings of the draft process leading up to the NFL Draft in late April. PICK FIT: DT FITS FOR EVERY COWBOYS DRAFT PICK While the Cowboys did spend a first-round pick on a defensive tackle a year ago, this draft warrants at least one more player in the position group to provide help in the interior next season. HIGH LOW: IS DT ROLE IN DALLAS STILL A DRAFT NEED? Mazi Smith will now be looked upon to carry the load for the Dallas Cowboys on the interior of their defensive line, but will they look for reinforcements in the 2024 NFL Draft? SPAGNOLA: POSSIBLY THE CENTER OF DRAFT ATTENTION Many of the mock drafts out there have the Cowboys picking an offensive tackle in the first round, but maybe that's not the best idea … especially with Tyler Smith on hand. NEXT MAN UP: EXPECTATIONS FOR TREY LANCE IN 2024 The Cowboys know who their starting QB will be in 2024 but the backup spot could be up for grabs. The team will definitely give Trey Lance a lot of looks, especially in the preseason. HIGH LOW: COWBOYS' OL ISSUES IGNITE DRAFT URGENCY Tyron Smith and Tyler Biadasz are both no longer in a Dallas Cowboys' uniform, and this can only mean the team will enter the 2024 NFL Draft hoping to replace them with top picks. NEXT MAN UP: DEFINING A ROLE FOR JUANYEH THOMAS The time is now for players such as Juanyeh Thomas, who has one year remaining on his contract but has enough versatility on defense and special teams to have a larger role in 2024. HIGH LOW: AUBREY DELETES COWBOYS NEED IN NFL DRAFT While there are several other position groups for the Dallas Cowboys to be concerned with heading into the 2024 NFL Draft, their specialists are certainly not one of them.
