Sipiol UV Dielectric Coatings for Battery Packs SIPIOL UV DIELECTRIC COATINGS FOR BATTERY PACKS Sipiol UV is a UV-cured, VOC-Free, 100% solids, dielectric coating that cures in seconds that has superior adhesion to metals and plastics. Sipiol UV coatings was specifically formulated for edge coverage and flexibility to prevent catastrophic battery fires. The strong adhesion and flexibility blends itself to many applications in the battery assembly. Sipiol UV will not de-bond or delaminate during use. Our dielectric paint contains unique properties with good coverage and high flexibility, allowing it to be applied to complex geometries where other battery coatings or tapes may fail. Production time can be reduced with the rapid cure time in a matter of seconds, not hours. Note: the delamination with the sharp corner and maintaining isolation is vital to safety in high voltage batteries and even more important as density energy increases. SIPIOL UV FLEXIBILITY Sipiol UV passes a 9 mm mandrel bend without cracking or delamination. When cracking occurs, there can be exposure to the metal substrate underneath thus eliminating isolation properties. The flexibility allows it to adhere to complex geometries and large format parts that may see flexing during use. On Cooling trays, Sipiol UV eliminates cracking as seen with epoxy’s. Epoxy's can be brittle and crack with rapid temperature changes, shrinkage can occur during cure or when exposed to mechanical or environmental changes. HOW DOES SIPIOL UV WORK? Our chemistry can cure rapidly when exposed to the appropriate wavelength and the intensity of light. When UV light is applied to the liquid coating, the photoinitiator produces free radicals which begin the chain reaction when rising liquid monomers into a cross linked and cured coating. HOW TO APPLY SIPIOL UV Sipiol UV has excellent edge coverage without delamination when applied to battery packs. Preventing delamination and maintaining electrical isolation is Vitol to safety in high voltage batteries and even more important as energy density is increased.
