At East Cooper Medical Center, we prioritize your needs and comfort at all
stages of your journey, from conception, pregnancy, delivery, and beyond. Our
comprehensive maternity services include: 

 * Fertility and conception services
 * Ante-partum testing to monitor your baby’s condition before delivery
 * Natural birth options for low-risk pregnancies
 * Designated drop-off for delivering mothers at the front of the hospital
 * Private labor and delivery suites
 * Level II special care nursery for little ones needing the highest level of
   care
 * Free “Rest Easy” rooms to stay overnight while your baby is in the special
   care nursery
 * Daily bedside nursing support from certified lactation consultants during
   your hospital stay
 * Pregnancy and postpartum classes, resources, and support

East Cooper Medical Center was the first hospital in South Carolina to perform a
robotic-arm assisted total knee replacement using Mako®. Our hospital is also an
important center for spine and weight loss surgeries in South Carolina.

Our expertly trained providers continue to use the latest in leading-edge
surgery, like Mako, ExcelsiusGPS®, and the da Vinci® Xi Surgical System to
provide total and partial knee and hip replacements, spine surgeries, heart
surgeries, and more. By giving you access to minimally invasive and robotic
procedures close to home, we allow you to quickly get back to where you’re
needed most.

to help you achieve a healthy, active lifestyle. Our expert orthopedic

Parking is free. If you arrive after the main lobby closes, check in at the
emergency room.

If needed, we offer curbside pick-up and drop-off to help you out of your
vehicle and guide you to your destination.

The gift shop is on the first floor near the main lobby. It offers cards, books,
magazines, flowers, candy, baby gifts, toys, and more. Call the hospital for
hours.

Your gift shop purchase goes back into the people that make our hospital
remarkable. All money spent at the gift shop benefits the Volunteer Auxiliary or
funds scholarships for students in the medical field as well as special hospital
projects.

 * East Cooper Café is on the first floor.
 * Vending machines are available throughout the hospital on every floor.

When you stay the night at the hospital as a patient, a member of the food and
nutrition team will visit your room to take your order for each meal. A chef’s
choice may be delivered if you arrive after orders have been placed.

You can request a security escort to and from the parking lot (available 24/7)
by calling the main hospital contact number. 

We recommend you leave all valuables at home.

Weapons, drugs and alcoholic beverages are not allowed on Novant Health
property.

 * Free Wi-Fi by selecting “Guest Network”
 * A sacred space for meditation, prayer and reflection is available on the
   first floor.
 * Comfort items, such as games, phone chargers, reading materials and extra
   blankets, are available upon request.




PLAN YOUR HOSPITAL STAY OR VISIT.

Whether you are coming for a procedure at our facility or visiting a friend or
family member, we want you to feel welcome.

What to bring
 * Mobile phone and/or tablet and their chargers
 * ID card
 * Insurance card 
 * Sleepwear
 * Toiletries, eyewear, dentures and their containers 
 * List of your current medications (leave medications at home)

We recommend that you leave all valuables at home, as we cannot be responsible
for lost or stolen items.

Label your things with your name.

Medications

While you should bring a list of your current medications, please do not bring
your medications with you to the hospital. You can only be given medications
from home if hospital medical staff prescribe it.

Leaving your unit

Please stay in your room until your doctor has made rounds and treatments are
complete. Ask the nurses' station if your doctor has given approval for you to
leave the unit and let the team know how to reach you.

End of stay (discharge)

When your doctor determines you are ready to go home, they will: 

 * Give written discharge authorization
 * Review your follow-up care instructions with you (You will get a copy.)

Your follow-up instructions will cover things like appointments, medications and
incision care.
