Faculty or staff can resolve audio issues with their University-issued Dell Latitude computer using a driver update. UPDATING THE AUDIO DRIVER The audio driver update process consists of 2 parts. First, it uninstalls the old driver and restarts the PC. Then, it installs the new driver and does another reboot. The process should improve the microphone and speaker's performance. 1. Download the appropriate audio driver. 2. Once the driver has been downloaded, run the file. 3. Click Install. 4. Wait approximately 30 seconds for the installer to appear. 5. Save all work. 6. Click Next. 7. Allow the old driver to uninstall. 8. Once you receive the InstallShield Wizard is Complete message, select Yes, I want to restart my computer now. 9. Click Finish. The computer will then restart. 10. Log into the computer. A similar installation window should automatically appear. 11. Click Next to run the installation. a. Ensure that the Yes I want to restart my computer now option is selected. b. Click Finish. 12. Log into the computer once it restarts. Your microphone and speakers should work normally.
