THE HEART OF THE STATES — COOL PLACES IN “THE MIDDLE” OF THE UNITED STATES THAT
MOST FOLKS HAVE NEVER EVEN HEARD ABOUT

“America’s Heartland” is often overlooked and forgotten. Nevertheless,
fascinating travel destinations most folks (Americans and foreigners included)
have never even heard about are all over the place covering its landscape.

From the “quiet big nothing”, pass-through towns, and farmland to bigger cities
and cool, little businesses such as The Laser Studio (cheggit here), quirky
donut shops, and others.

TEXAS

Little did you know: Austin, Texas is known as the “Live Music Capital of the
World”. So, if you like live music, it is the place to be! Furthermore, we got
the city’s famous TexMex tacos and barbeque. Yum! At this point in time, Austin
is growing and growing. Why? ‘Cause people love Austin. And Texas. Don’t forget
to check out Austin’s street art murals – there’s no shortage.

OKLAHOMA

We used to live in Oklahoma. For a year. It was not for us. Nevertheless, what
we noticed after living there for a year is that Oklahoma actually has – believe
it or not – many gorgeous places to visit. The eastern part is hilly and quite
“naturey” – a great place for hunting, hiking, biking, and more. If you go
further south, you’ll find Talihina – a very desirable travel location for
tourists. Folks flock every year around fall to experience the stunning
“Talihina scenic drive”. Oklahoma City is quirky and definitely worth a day. Go
a bit further west and you’ll find Medicine Park. We almost thought about moving
there because it is such a different type of place but, truth be told, it is
mostly just for tourists. (Population = around 500.)

NEBRASKA

What you probably didn’t know: Its capital Omaha has the largest indoor desert
as well as rainforest in the world! Ain’t that funny? Check out Omaha’s zoo
sometimes. They have almost a thousand different species! And not to forget
“Omaha steaks” but… you can’t visit those, obviously. (So, never mind.) Next, we
have the Joslyn Art Museum as well as the Lauritzen Gardens.

OHIO

Interestingly, Ohio is known for wine. (I had no idea either.) Canton’s Gervasi
Vineyard, for example, has seven medals for wine. One award was for the best
Cabernet Sauvignon. (I like cabs.) Stunning rolling hills are everywhere. It is
a sight. And Cleveland is not too far away – it’s just an hour’s drive.

Must-do: You need to check out “Put-In-Bay”! It is a beautiful, amazing place to
see and visit. In fact, it is considered one of the Midwest’s best getaways.

KANSAS

Yes, Kansas is mostly flat and often considered “unspectacular” but besides
farms n’ fields and tornados that magically transport people to the Oz, Kansas
is also marked by pretty rolling hills and interesting city life. Check out
Kansas City’s “Money Museum” – it’s free. Ironically. Listen to some jazz, visit
the Kansas City Speedway, or count all 200 fountains placed throughout the city.

SAVE MONEY FOR VACATIONS THROUGH THESE SIMPLE TIPS

You’ll need money whether you want to travel to see family and friends, return
to your favorite vacation spot, or participate in a cultural exchange program.
We’re bringing you some fantastic advice for cutting costs on your upcoming
vacation. Here are five methods for saving money.

REJECT ANY UNUSED SUBSCRIPTIONS

Examine all of your monthly subscriptions critically and consider the following
issues. Are they truly necessary? It might be time to stop watching cable TV if
you spend most of your time watching Netflix.

Do you use these subscriptions frequently enough to justify keeping them? Gym
membership comes to mind as one illustration. If you only exercise once every
two weeks, you should probably cancel.

Could you locate less expensive options? While having a Hello Fresh box
delivered to your house may be convenient, shopping around for discounts at your
neighborhood market could end up saving you a lot of money.

RESERVE YOUR TICKETS FOR TUESDAYS

Unbelievably, the cost of the same flight may vary based on the day of the week
you book. Booking on Tuesday, the day after airlines have announced their
discount rates and looked at their rivals’ pricing, may result in savings.

No matter what day of the week, make sure to plan all of your travel ahead of
time. If you wait until the last minute, prices increase. To prevent being
overcharged, it is essential to make your airline reservations at least three
weeks in advance. Making a reservation in advance provides you extra time to
shop around before swiping your card.

SAVE THROUGH LUNCHES

By packing your lunches for work or school rather than purchasing food from the
neighborhood convenience store, you’ll save a tonne of money on transportation.
Some estimates state that savings could total up to $1,000 a year! That will
likely be sufficient to cover the cost of your flight to the location of your
choice. Furthermore, you could cook a fantastic lunch at home for a lot less
money than paying $5 for a boring pre-packaged sandwich.

USE ALTERNATE FORMS OF TRANSPORTATION

Ask yourself if you could arrive at your location on foot or by bicycle before
calling a taxi or boarding a bus. Additionally, find out if anyone you know is
traveling in the same direction at the same time before you embark on that
lengthy vehicle trip. You’ll travel in a more environmentally friendly manner in
addition to saving money.

YOUR INTENTION MUST BE STRAIGHTFORWARD

Your strategy for how to save money for travel will be more effective if you
have a very clear picture of what you want to accomplish. Writing down your
intention in a notebook or even making a vision board might help it become more
powerful. Believe that you will travel in 2022, and you will see your wishes
come true.

If you’re wondering how to save money for travel in advance, here are a few
extremely good options, but they’re by no means the only ones. To make your
fantasy vacations a reality, you can also bring your creative ideas.

MUST VISIT COFFEE SHOPS IN NEW YORK

Several pleasant neighborhood coffee shops in NYC serve foamy cappuccinos and
engage customers in polite conversation. Even yet, there are several cafes and
roasters in the city that stand out for their expertly brewed coffee,
award-winning pastries, and friendly service. While every New Yorker has a
favorite corner spot.

Here’s a list of must-visit coffee shops:

VARIETY COFFEE ROASTERS

Variety Coffee Roasters is now a mature company: Variety, a pioneer in the NYC
coffee market, has a somewhat-new Upper East Side location with wood paneling
and elegant lighting. In contrast to the original stores in Williamsburg,
Greenpoint, and Bushwick, which are properly funky, the Chelsea and Park Slope
sites are equally urbane. Variety is renowned for its nutty, chocolaty roasts
and only recently began roasting coffee.

KINSHIP COFFEE

Kinship runs a well-liked three-cafe enterprise in Astoria because she isn’t
content to allow Long Island City to have all the Queens coffee fun. The coffee
company opened its roastery in Astoria last year, filling its cafes with a
variety of single-origin and blend coffees. From each site, Kinship also offers
growlers of cold brew.

LITTLE COLLINS

An oasis of Australian-style coffee in a city overrun with Starbucks and other
commercial stores is this bustling, Midtown establishment. The coffee is
top-notch; the pour-overs, cold brews, and flat whites are miniature works of
art. The cuisine is what draws people in though, whether it’s from the large
breakfast menu (chorizo-baked eggs and a shishito pepper omelet with aioli) or
the pastries, salads, or sandwiches. Please take note that weekends are closed
at Urbanspace’s second location, 570 Lexington Avenue.

SWEETLEAF

The original Sweetleaf location is comfortably packed. The Rocket Fuel, a cold
brew infused with chicory, maple syrup, and milk, and the Voodoo Child, a
Vietnamese-style iced coffee made with sweetened condensed milk, are two unique
iced coffee drinks that are worth ordering in addition to the usual selection of
high-quality espresso drinks. Every place has a distinctive atmosphere: The
Queens Plaza coffee bar is built for speed (2810 Jackson Avenue), the Long
Island City café also serves beer and cocktails, and the mothership is a
roastery-cafe in Greenpoint (159 Freeman Street) (4615 Center Boulevard).

LA CABRA

Is this New York City’s top coffee shop? It’s undoubtedly one of the busiest
since during rush hour, a line extends out the door. The fact is, it’s
worthwhile. This import from Denmark offers top-notch coffee, delectable
pastries, table service, and a charming Scandi aesthetic. A beautiful cappuccino
in an earthenware cup and a cardamom bun would be the perfect way to start your
day.

INTERLUDE COFFEE & TEA

A tastefully minimalist coffee, matcha, and pastry shop in Tribeca. With Breuer
chairs and marble worktops, the store is compact and calm. For something
straightforward and energizing, try the espresso tonic, or for something more
complex, try the not-too-sweet masala chai latte. Children of all ages, as well
as adults, will want to purchase the single-origin hot chocolate on chilly days.

With these coffee shops on your list upon your visit to New York, you can have
the vibes for what New York is famous for.

WATERFALLS WORTH VISITING IN THE UNITED STATES

Every waterfall has its character, from roaring cascades to fanciful trickles.
Some of them flow from crazily high cliffs into the swirling whirlpools below,
towering and lean. Others are gauzier and are spread throughout moss- and
rock-covered stairways.

Since each person’s experience with the falls being named is wholly subjective,
it is difficult to compile a list of waterfalls that are worthwhile traveling
to. With our thorough understanding of the subject, we bring you the best
waterfalls which you enjoy upon your visit.

WASHINGTON’S PALOUSE FALLS

The Palouse River’s magnificent overflight over a ledge and plunge into an Ice
Age gorge cut from columnar basalt is the main attraction in the 94-acre Palouse
Falls State Park in southeast Washington. The sheer granite walls of this
200-foot plunge are surrounded by clouds of mist that are like something out of
Jurassic Park.

ALASKA’S NUGGET FALLS

Dramatic Nugget Falls, one of Juneau’s most well-known sites, is situated on the
eastern shore of Mendenhall Lake and close to the blue-hued Mendenhall Glacier.
The 1.6-mile loop that runs through a granite gorge and terminates at the base
of the falls, which pound down a 377-foot rock face, can be found just past the
Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center.

CALIFORNIA’S YOSEMITE FALLS

One of the tallest waterfalls in the world at 2,425 feet, it is regarded as
Yosemite National Park’s most magnificent cliff-diving waterfall. The only
drawback to its beauty is that, due to its relatively barren, harsh granite
drainage, it dries out by mid- to late-summer after fast melting through its
enormous winter snow cover. However, there’s a strong possibility it can do the
same for you if it can inspire superlatives from people like Ansel Adams, John
Muir, Thomas Ayres, Francois Matthes, James Hutchings, and more.

IDAHO’S SHOSHONE FALLS

Known as the Niagara of the West, this Snake River gusher is remarkably wide and
212 feet taller than the genuine Niagara (900 feet). That makes it one of the
largest natural falls in the nation, and it has long been a popular tourist
destination dating back to the days of the Oregon Trail. Although the average
flow is between 10,000 and 12,000 cubic feet per second, during a very difficult
winter with a lot of snowfall, the meltwater can reach up to 20,000 cubic feet
per second.

WYOMING’S UNION FALLS

There is just no other waterfall like it, dropping about 260 feet where two
significant creeks converge with a delicate beauty unrivaled by any other huge
waterfall we’ve seen. To visit the thermally heated creek and waterfall at the
Ouzel Pool, take a quick side trip. This allowed us to enjoy the ideal area for
a quick swim and chill before the exhausting climb back out.

NORTH CAROLINA’S DRY FALLS

The Mountain Waters Scenic Byway is a 61.3-mile section of roadways in the
Nantahala National Forest of North Carolina that runs between Almond and
Highlands. The journey ends in the beautiful Dry Falls, a 75-foot wonder with a
designated parking area, after winding through two river gorges, two lakes,
Wayah Bald, and Cullasaja Gorge.

With these waterfalls on your list, you can surely have a wonderful time of a
lifetime.
