ABOUT DISASTERAWARE

DisasterAWARE® was born 20 years ago to help governments and emergency managers
visualize, understand, and mitigate hazard risks.  Architected, developed, and
operated by the Pacific Disaster Center (PDC), the application has been used
since by officials and humanitarian communities globally, and refined over time.
 

A joint venture between DisasterIQ Inc. and the PDC in 2016 allowed the parties
to scale the infrastructure, and to offer these valuable services to the
industry (or private sector) for the first time.  

Today, cloud-based infrastructure of the DisasterAWARE Enterprise™ , combined
with PDC’s long history of hazard alerting and AI-based analysis is the most
advanced risk and impact intelligence solution available for enterprises.



DISASTERAWARE TIMELINE

1993
U.S. Congress approves Pacific Disaster Center

Following Hurricane Iniki in 1992, Sen. Inouye authors bill to create new center
in Hawai'i with the goal to make the U.S. more prepared and resilient in the
face of natural hazards.


1996
Pacific Disaster Center Opens



2003
Risk Intelligence Platform 1st Available to Other Agencies

First version of the PDC's platform–that would later be called
DisasterAWARE–became operational to help emergency mgrs. visualize hazard risks
in Asia Paciifc.  It was based on an Integrated Decision Support System (IDSS)
architecture developed by PDC.  It was under different names for years, used by
the Govs, EMs & NGO.



2009
Department of Defense Adopts DisasterAWARE

DisasterAWARE launches global hazard coverage. In the same year, the U.S.
Department of Defense begins using DisasterAWARE for programs like its Foreign
Disaster Response initiative.





2010
PDC Launches Disaster Alert Mobile App

Disaster Alert was launched for smartphones and made available to the general
public for local use.



2012
PDC Rebrands Risk Intelligence Platform DisasterAWARE




2016
PDC Signs Exclusive Licensing Deal with DisasterIQ

Through this partnership with the Pacific Disaster Center, DisasterIQ can
deliver the most powerful global risk intelligence and business continuity
solution for private enterprises.
