ABOUT SLP RANDOM VEHICLE INSPECTIONS

Each Year SLP spends a minimum of 130 days at various fuel terminals across the
country inspecting vehicles that operate under Safe Load Program.  Vehicles
entering a fuel terminal are randomly selected for inspection for compliance to
SLP requirements.  In doing this SLP gathers information on the effectiveness of
our program.  We look at trends in vehicle faults by type, by location and by
the vehicle operator/owner.
SLP also uses the data collected to assess the overall performance of our
inspection locations (AIL’s), this data assists us in communicating to
inspection locations on when they need to pay closer attention to particular
transport operators and customers that may be having difficulty in maintaining
vehicle compliance.

Inspection data notes:

 * Vehicles inspected for general roadworthy only commenced in 2018
 * 2020 inspections numbers were severely reduced, particularly in Victoria and
   Western Australia due to COVID19 state border restrictions and lockdowns.
