WHY DONATE? The Darling Downs is a world-renowned agricultural powerhouse that feeds and clothes Australia and exports globally. Yet, this unique and pivotal food bowl is under dire threat from the expansion of coal seam gas. Arrow Energy want to expand their operations into the region onto priority agricultural land - this is the company that secretly drilled horizontal wells underneath farmland without telling farmers, causing their land to ‘sink’ with severe consequences* Save our Darling Downs have opened a shop front in Dalby three doors down from Arrow Energy, and your donation to Lock the Gate will help them keep their doors open. Save our Darling Downs are educating the community on the threat that coal seam gas drilling poses to their livelihoods and that they have a voice and rights when big gas multinationals come knocking. The precious groundwater that sustains this region - the Condamine Alluvium - should not be risked for profits of an overseas mining corporation. The new QLD LNP Government have listened to Save our Darling Downs’ requests and made a commitment to protect the Condamine Alluvium, but until they make true on their commitment, we need to keep our doors open and continue to raise awareness on the threat of CSG.
