Decentraland's Metaverse Fashion Week is a multi-disciplinary and cross-metaverse event focused on fashion and its many identities. From new designers to legacy designers and brands, and spread across 4 fabulous days, the event consists of runways shows, after-parties, educational talks, shopping, emmersive experiences, and entertainment. The curatorial theme of MVFW23 is ‘Future Heritage,’ a challenge to connect the next generation of creators and traditional fashion designers, showing the potential of fashion to bridge realities and worlds. The event shines a light on the fashion industry of today, proposing a diversity of aesthetics across metaverses, connecting innovation to tradition, and looking back to the great moments of fashion to build the future. 02.WHAT IS DECENTRALAND? Launched in 2020, Decentraland is a virtual social world, the first decentralized metaverse, and the only one that is open source. Within the Decentraland platform, which can run on a browser or desktop client, users can create, experience, and monetize content and applications as well as socialize and attend a wide range of daily, community-driven events. Decentraland is unique in that it is owned, created, and governed by the people who use it every day. Through Decentraland's decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) users can submit proposals and even apply for grants for the community to vote on. 03.HOW DO I USE DECENTRALAND? Eager to jump into Decentraland but not familiar with the platform? Don't worry! Here are the basics for entering and navigating the virtual world so you can start exploring in no time. STEP 1: Enter Decentraland You can enter Decentraland by going to https://play.decentraland.org/. During MVFW, you will land in the Welcome Area of the event. Alternately, you can enter Decentraland directly in your area of interest via an Event page link. Just click 'Jump In' at the bottom of the event listing you're interested in or click on one of the event cards in the Event section of this website. STEP 2: Play Using Your Wallet or Play as a Guest You can enter Decentraland with or without a crypto wallet. An easy way to think of it is whether to make a Decentraland account or visit as a guest. If you make an account you can permanently save your avatar for return visits, claim free Wearables during the event, try out different Wearables & Emotes in the Marketplace, and buy your favorites. To create an account, you'll need a crypto wallet. If you don't already have one, you can get one quickly at no cost, it's as easy as signing up for a new email. Learn more here. Step 3: Create Your Avatar Customize your avatar to represent the metaverse version of yourself (be whoever you want to be!).
