In fact I had friends when I was a kid that this was a normal thing they did in their family, a tradition passed down for many years. Personally, I’ve never tried it, but maybe it’s time I give it a go? HERE ARE THE REASONS WHY I WANT TO GIVE THE ONION ON THE FOOT METHOD A TRY We all know that our skin is our largest organ right? Everything we put on our skin is absorbed into it, even things we are exposed to, some of those things are not good for us. We absorb: * cosmetics * chemicals * minerals * ions * drugs That’s not even all… somethings we absorb through our skin are good and many things are not good for us at all. effindave – Instagram This process of absorbing through the skin is called transcutaneous absorption. So growing up I was told that onions on the feet can pull toxins from the body, and people would do this when they were sick or doing a detox. What I have recently learned is that it’s possible to absorb the nutrients from onions through your feet while you sleep. knowledgecjanice – Instagram When you look into a lot of alternative medicine and therapies, a lot of them begin with the feet, for instance, Chinese Medicine, reflexology, acupressure, etc. THE NUTRITIONAL BENEFITS OF AN ONION One important nutritional benefit of onions is sulfer. Sulfer helps our body make insulin, grow healthy hair, healthy fingernails, and build muscle. It also helps build and fix your DNA! > Your body needs sulfur to build and fix your DNA and protect your cells from > damage that can lead to serious diseases such as cancers. Sulfur also assists > your body to metabolize food and contributes to the health of your skin, > tendons, and ligaments. The two amino acids that include sulfur are methionine > and cysteine. > > WebMD ONIONS HAVE ANTIBACTERIAL PROPERTIES > Onions feature a variety of sulfur compounds that have antibacterial activity. > … Furthermore, cutting an onion triggers the release of enzymes that initiate > a chemical reaction producing propenesulfenic acid, which in turn decomposes > to yield sulphuric acid … sulfuric acid also inhibits the growth of bacteria. > > Joe Schwarcz, director of McGill University’s Office for Science and Society Jut like garlic, which I use as a natural antibacterial, onions also have a similar make-up. THE FOLLOWING ISSUES CAN BE HELPED BY PUTTING AN ONION SLICE ON YOUR FEET AT NIGHT * Common cold and flu * High blood pressure * Inflammation * Loss of appetite * Nausea * Weakness * Immune system complaints * Gland imbalance I actually deal with a lot of these issues, so maybe it’s worth a try? alexa_lyme – Instagram HERE’S HOW TO DO IT carolelilibet – Instagram You can use any type of onion that you have on hand, it doesn’t matter if it’s red, yellow, or white. You’ll need to slice it to about 1/2 inch thickness. You’ll then take that slice and put it on the bottom of your feet where it also touches the bottom of your toes. Pull a sock over that part, then take another slice or two for the arch and heel and pull the sock the rest of the way onto your foot. fighteczema – Instagram Some people also wrap them to the foot using gauze. ONION OIL I read that you can also accomplish the same benefits with onion oil, you can buy this, but I am going to look into making my own here at home to try. This sounds more comfortable to me because you just mix the oil with a carrier oil and rub it into the soles of your feet before bed and cover it with socks. I think I’m going to try it, it can’t hurt anything so why not? 1 shares * * * By Author Brandy Arnold Categories Happy Happy, Joy Joy, Heavy Handed Advice, These Things Are Better Than Your Things POST NAVIGATION Alicia Silverstone Made Her TikTok Debut In The Most ‘Clueless’ Way Possible And It’s Perfection ‘Ultrasound Nails’ Are The Hottest New Beauty Trend For New Moms Click here to cancel reply.
