OUR PARTNERS EXPANDING VA USE OF MOBILE APPLICATIONS FOR TELEHEALTH VA’s Anywhere to Anywhere telemedicine enables providers to connect on any device in any state to any veteran no matter where the veteran is located by using a mobile device or computer. Iron Bow was honored to help setup the technologies for the launch and demonstration at the White House. Iron Bow is responsible for the development and deployment of Veterans Appointment Request (VAR) VA Video Connect, and others apps to modernize care for veterans. About VA Anywhere to Anywhere. TELEHEALTH Today’s information and telecommunications technologies can dramatically improve the quality of care for patients and improve health access particularly for those located in remote areas. But, the technology alone is not a silver bullet. When patient care is on the line, it needs to be the right technology, integrated seamlessly and supported correctly throughout its lifecycle. Iron Bow is an experienced industry leader in integrating full lifecycle networking, collaboration, information security, data center and end user-device solutions. Their current platform had manually managed standard operating procedures and they needed to be automated to extend the use of telehealth solutions. Using an agile development methodology an automated system was developed with a high level of stakeholder and and-user input in order to mimic the manual process. A Customer Relations Management (CRM) deployment release, managed by Iron Bow, promises to extend the functionality of the platform by integrating it with various telehealth systems. The learning and feedback from the deployment will provide the foundation for future development iterations. DELIVERING CARE ON THE HOME FRONT Telehealth platforms no longer require expensive, proprietary technology. Patients can receive preventative and wellness care in the comfort of their own home through personal devices. Through home telehealth solutions, providers can monitor and engage patients by seeing daily updates on vitals as well as health behavior. These solutions also allow doctors to stratify and customize care using daily trending information to make changes to care plans. Subjective and biometric data is collected and analyzed holistically for a full view of patient wellness. Finally, with remote care solutions, providers can receive customizable alerts when patients need intervention. POWERING TELEHEALTH A newly-built hospital needed video teleconferencing capabilities in 28 conference rooms throughout the building. The requirement was to be able to conduct video calls with numerous other facilities stateside and worldwide. The clarity of the video calls was a key factor for the users, who were primarily doctors, needing to see in fine detail from the far end for proper diagnosis. The Iron Bow team’s site survey uncovered several issues with work completed prior to our engagement in the equipment set up and infrastructure design. Our team of experts provided the appropriate technology and connections for each space to remediate the issues that were found. We also leveraged the existing SMART-Podiums and integrated IPTV into the video teleconferencing solution allowing the client to easily use a one touch panel to control all devices. The doctors now have the ability to conduct high-resolution video calls with facilities all over the world in support of the patient care they provide the U.S. military. In fact, we are one of the largest providers of information technology to the VA. This longstanding support gives us intimate insight into how health providers use available technology and how we can help anticipate future needs. From mobile application development and enablement to wireless access to collaboration and telehealth solutions to desktop and network virtualization, our team has the experience and expertise to make technology easy to use so providers can focus on care. IRON BOW IN ACTION CONNECTING THE BEDSIDE To enhance guest experiences, a federal health agency wanted to offer free Internet access at its facilities for veterans, their families and visitors. However, to achieve high user satisfaction, facilities needed to meet today’s expectation that service will be seamless for any device, anywhere at any time. Drawing on two decades of experience, Iron Bow Technologies designed a turnkey solution that combines the expert integration of the network with ongoing support through Iron Bow IronCare Managed Services. The solution included site surveys to determine the best spots for wireless access points, design and installation of the infrastructure, design and installation of the wireless network and ongoing management. From network design through daily operations, Iron Bow is the single point of contact accessed through one phone number. This end-to-end solution with ongoing support enhances patient care and customer satisfaction by ensuring a high level of system availability and delivers service level objectives of 98 percent up-time or more. DEVELOPING A MODERN WIRELESS CAMPUS A federal health agency needed a new Enterprise Class Wi-Fi infrastructure at their Las Vegas campus. Beginning with an on-site instrumented survey of the existing wireless infrastructure at each of the six facilities on the Las Vegas campus, Iron Bow designed, integrated, and deployed a solution that met current and future needs. The solution integrated with the existing components to support existing and future bar code dedication and expansion, mobile medical devices, data, voice, and wireless video systems, biomedical engineering applications, electrocardiogram (EKG) systems, radio frequency identification (RFID) and other location services and other wireless applications. In meeting the agency’s requirement for seamless roaming, scalability and redundancy, the Iron Bow Team equipped the Las Vegas campus with a solution that far extends their previous wireless infrastructures capabilities. Scalability was provided throughout the campus to include clinical and administrative areas as well as external areas such as walkways and parking areas, and enough redundancy is engineered into the solution to ensure continued operation at 100 percent capacity and to support a 50 percent expansion of wireless clients without impacting performance. IRON BOW IN ACTION EMPOWERING KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER The Iron Bow team provides support services for the continued deployment and operation of a federal health agency’s Content Distribution Network (CDN) for the Employee Education System (EES). The CDN is an enterprise system that delivers the agency’s broadcasts and Content on Demand videos to employee desktops across the agency via IP. The team is responsible for all services required to maintain the CDN network, technical support to CDN users and local Information Resource Management (IRM) staff, implementation of major infrastructure upgrades, and support during equipment installations across the agency. The team also supported web development that was essential to the continued growth of the CDN and its corresponding benefits to the agency. Work here included supporting the CDN’s integration with the agency’s Learning Management System (LMS) and the implementation of several CDN web enhancements. Today the team maintains the CDN web application and CDN server farm at their current level of operation. It also ensures that all new code releases will be fully tested and documented before implementation. LETTING PROVIDERS FOCUS ON PATIENTS, NOT TECHNOLOGY Iron Bow has removed the burden of technology procurement, deployment and support for a national nonprofit health system. Supporting a national virtual care program, Iron Bow is responsible for technology vetting and sourcing, project and program oversight, comprehensive managed and sustainment services, reporting and analytics, clinical adoption and training services and device installation for ten programs including telestroke, telebehavioral and telepediatrics. VIDEOCONFERENCING MADE EASY Iron Bow and partner Affigent provided maintenance and support on the 6,200 plus Cisco video teleconference (VTC) devices in the enterprise video teleconferencing network (EVTN). Continuing support, maintenance and services for these devices is critical to a federal health agency as it supports internal communications, effective management and patient care activities. The Iron Bow team provided Cisco brand SMARTnet Services for Cisco VTC endpoint and VTC networking devices as part of the EVTN. In addition to providing Cisco SMARTnet Services tasks, Iron Bow also provided Cisco Advanced Services supporting the EVTN. Additionally, Iron Bow manages an extensive list of Cisco hardware for the agency’s entire EVTN providing network monitoring, technical refresh advisory services, network optimization, SMARTnet true-ups (adds/moves/changes) and technical support.
