We met Evvie two years ago when they joined our Somatic Abolitionism Training Program for Coaches and Therapists and we have come to know and deeply appreciate the beautiful being Evvie is and the gifts they bring to the world. Evvie has a powerful and moving story having grown up in a cult, once they removed themselves they began speaking out about cultic abuse which alienated and angered their family of origin and they lost any social safety net support from extended family who are still in the cult. They are also enduring an autoimmune disease in need of treatment. As many of you know, it is extremely difficult to secure a steady job when un-homed and when basic health and security needs are not met. Evvie has many gifts ready to bring to the world and they need our support to create basic foundational resource in their life to be able to settle and re-enter the workforce. We believe in the power of this community to respond in a multitude of ways. We are hoping to raise $10,000 + to respond to the urgent and essential needs Evvie has for home, health, and stabilizing basic security needs (please factor in the recent inflation we are all enduring): Here is what these funds will go to: HOUSING: the cost of first & last months rent + security deposit to secure a safe home and secure housing situation STABILITY: this would provide a couple months of safe and secure housing for Evvie to be able to interview for jobs (given its the holiday season, most roles won't start till January). FOOD and UTILITIES: will help to cover a few months basic food, utility bills, gas, and cell phone to be able to go on job interviews TRANSPORTATION: replacing their car battery which just died, this is currently their home base and only means of transportation. MEDICAL CARE: There’s a surgery related to Evvie’s autoimmune disease they’ve been waiting to get since last summer but couldn't do because they couldn't afford before/after care support and housing for the week. Any additional funds will go to support Evvie to receive this medical procedure and to secure the before and after care needed so they are supported throughout. Beyond financial support Evvie has allowed us to compile a list of other forms of support related to their job search and possibility to relocate if they find a job that can provide a sustainable livelihood.
