 * TOP 10 NO-TILL STORIES IN FEBRUARY 2022

In case you missed them, here are the items that have garnered the most

   PREOWNED NO-TILL PLANTER?

Which takes less time to make field-ready: A new no-till planter or a
   preowned no-till planter?

 * FROM THE ARCHIVES: NO-TILL BOOSTS INCOME WHILE SAVING SOIL

Peter Myers, the chief of the Soil Conservation Service (SCS), is a genuine
farmer (cropping 1,100 acres at Matthews, Mo.) who believes in the many
benefits of no-tillage. We think you’ll find his answers to our No-Till
   Farmer questions of special interest.

 * FROM THE ARCHIVES: NO-TILL GETS MORE ATTENTION AMONG SOIL CONSERVATIONISTS

Washington’s interest in no-till increased dramatically in the 1980s and
1990s as several veteran no-tillers took over the role of Chief of the Soil

NO-TILL COLUMNS

 * FARMERS HAVE RARE OPPORTUNITY FOR CLIMATE-SMART PROGRAM FUNDING

On Feb. 2nd, USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack announced the new $1 billion
Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities designed to help finance pilot
projects from farmers, ranchers and forest landowners who take steps to curb
greenhouse gas emissions, capture and store carbon, and/or generate other
   environmental benefits.

 * BATTLING AN UNHEALTHY 44% INCREASE IN FERTILIZATION COSTS, NO-TILLERS ARE
SEEKING WAYS TO TRIM CRITICAL NUTRIENT EXPENSES WITHOUT SACRIFICING YIELDS
   AND RETURNS

Sky-high fertilizer prices are certainly having a serious economic impact on
how no-tillers will be fertilizing this year’s corn and soybean crops. Major
fertility changes are coming, according to data from our 14th annual No-Till
Operational Benchmark Study that analyzed extensive data from 480 U.S.
   no-tillers.

 * GMO WHEAT HAS ARRIVED. WHY ISN'T IT HERE?

It’s safe. It would help farmers deal with drought, support biodiversity,
protect the environment and decrease a farms carbon footprint. It would help
consumers cope with inflation and pay their food bills.
So why aren’t we growing genetically modified wheat?

 * TIMES OP-ED VIDEO OFFERS SHOTGUN APPROACH TO AG INDUSTRY

Amid drone footage of industrial scale Ag facilities, footage of Senate
Agricultural Committee member Sen. Corey Booker (D-NJ) looking concerned on a
couch when he clearly had other things to do, a bearded man eating what
appeared to be the same piece of steak several times, and some
earnest-sounding lawyers, a voiceover contrasted the national discourse over
the environment with what aims to be a serious discussion about agriculture
   and America's food chain.
