   MAINE'S DEBT - $7,400 PER TAXPAYER
   
   OUR BILLS & OBLIGATIONS EXCEED OUR ASSETS BY $3.5 BILLION
   
   Maine's elected officials have repeatedly made very poor financial decisions
   that have left our state in a very poor financial condition and saddled with
   MASSIVE debt.
   
   In his early career, Bill Elliott was a trained financial analyst. Better
   analysis of income, expenses, and underfunded pension benefits and future
   healthcare obligations will result in better and more prudent
   decision-making. Maine MUST live within its means!
   
   GOVERNMENT OVERREACH (NOW UNACCEPTABLE)
   
   EMERGENCY DECLARATIONS • TAX HIKES • OVER-REGULATION
   
   Maine has a long and proud history of sound thinking, independence, and
   valuing individual liberties. Those in power NOW in our state seem to have
   forgotten this heritage.
   
   Bill Elliott is highly-experienced in critical thinking and decision-making.
   Bill knows how to use common sense to protect our citizens and economy
   WITHOUT crushing them! Maine State government needs to get out-of-the-way of
   business... and allow it to thrive.
   
   EDUCATION AND JOBS
   
   BETTER FOCUSED AND MORE EFFICIENT EDUCATION/TRAINING
   
   Maine has an aging population... and many of our young, educated people leave
   the state after high school or college. As a result, companies wanting to
   fill jobs that require certain expertise or technical skills are out of
   luck... and that's very bad for Maine's economy.
   
   What's to be done? Bill Elliott wants to support and incentivize trade
   schools and community colleges to be more in line with today's emerging
   technology and work/manage from home trends.
   
   2ND. AMENDMENT AND PERSONAL RIGHTS
   
   THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS PREVENTS TYRANNY
   
   I’m a gun owner... and I deeply respect our Constitutional right to bear arms
   and form militias. I’m against unreasonable restrictions, excessive
   monitoring, and bureaucratizing the purchase of guns or ammunition. The
   Federal Government intercepts/monitors cell phones, local and long-distance
   calls, and internet traffic for national security and counter-terrorism
   purposes. I’m vitally concerned about combining those capabilities with the
   elimination or heavy restriction of personal gun rights. I think that’s a
   sure invitation for a “Big Brother” society; it’s a government intrusion into
   our personal lives that none of us wants.

   WILLIAM ELLIOTT - CANDIDATE: MAINE HOUSE DISTRICT #97
   
   Republican William Elliott is running for Maine House District 97
   representing Belfast, Northport, and Waldo against incumbent Democrat Jan
   Dodge.
   
   Elliott grew up on the Maine coast but left for a number of years to pursue
   career options elsewhere before returning back to the state. He said he is
   disappointed to see the conservative values he grew up with being replaced by
   more liberal ideals.
   
   He said he wants to bring more conservative ideas back into Maine politics
   like being fiscally conservative. He wants to introduce broadband to the
   entire state and lower property taxes that put people at risk of losing their
   homes.
