 1.  WHAT IS SMART SETUP?
     
     Smart Setup guides you through, step-by-step, to backup your old phone and
     set up your new phone. You can chat with a live expert if you need help.
     
     
     
     
     


 2.  HOW LONG DOES SMART SETUP TAKE?
     
     Allow 20 - 60 minutes to set up a new Android™ or Apple® iPhone®. Total
     time depends on how much you need to transfer and the speed of your Wi-Fi
     connection.
     
     
     
     
     


 3.  DO I NEED TO MOVE MY SIM CARD FROM MY OLD PHONE TO MY NEW ONE?
     
     Rarely*. SIM stands for "subscriber identity module". Whether it's a
     removable card or built in, SIM stores the data your device uses to connect
     to our network. Your new phone has a SIM so you don’t need to move your old
     SIM when you switch phones.
     
     *Replacement devices sent to you by an insurer may require you to move your
     SIM card.
     
     
     
     
     


 4.  DO I NEED TO USE A COMPUTER WHEN I SET UP MY NEW DEVICE?
     
     No. You don't have to connect your smartphone to a computer during setup.
     However, you may want to view the Smart Setup guides on your computer while
     you backup and transfer your phones.
     
     Note: Smart Setup is for smartphones only. It doesn't work with basic
     phones.
     
     
     
     
     


 5.  I DON'T HAVE MY OLD PHONE, CAN SMART SETUP HELP ME SET UP THE NEW ONE?

 6.  WHAT CAN I TRANSFER WITH SMART SETUP?
     
     When you set up a new Android or Apple iPhone, you can transfer your apps,
     contacts, data and photos from your old phone to your new phone.
     
     
     
     
     


 7.  SHOULD I PLUG IN MY PHONE FOR SMART SETUP?
     
     Before you start Smart Setup, fully charge your phone(s). Keeping your
     phone plugged in (optional) prevents battery drain during backup, transfer
     and setup.
     
     
     
     
     


 8.  HOW CAN I TRADE IN MY OLD DEVICE?
     
     You can check the value of your old device and complete your trade-in
     online.
     
     
     
     
     


 9.  CAN I USE SMART SETUP WHEN I BRING MY OWN DEVICE TO VERIZON?
     
     Visit our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) page to activate a BYOD smartphone
     on the Verizon network. Then, if you need help transferring content from
     old devices, Smart Setup can help.
     
     
     


 10. CAN I SWITCH BETWEEN ANDROID AND APPLE PHONES USING SMART SETUP?
     
     Yes, Smart Setup can guide you in switching between Android and Apple
