Molecular Anatomy of the Mouse Embryo Project


The Mamep project was initiated with the aim to create a comprehensive data
resource for the genetic analysis of pattern formation, tissue development and
organogenesis in the mid-gestational mouse embryo. Whole-mount in situ
hybridization was utilized for assigning gene activity to particular cell types
and organs, thus identifying genes involved in differentiation processes. The
Mamep database covers a substantial fraction of genes showing tissue restricted
expression at E9.5 and provides a basis for imaging the molecular anatomy of the
mouse embryo at mid-gestation. It serves as an important resource for
investigating developmental processes in the mouse, and complements other gene
expression datasets made available to mouse developmental biologists.
