WELCOME TO BANKS TOWNSHIP…

a place of community and a township working to combine its agricultural
tradition with the growing tourism of Northern Michigan.

Banks Township’s natural resources make it a recreational paradise for those who
enjoy spending time outdoors. Its hardworking, friendly people make it a great
place to live or visit.




ANNOUNCEMENTS

Antrim County voters will be asked on November 5 whether or not to approve a
bond proposal for the construction of a Public Safety Center. If it is built,
the public Safety Center will include a jail, flexible programming space,
community training space, emergency management, 911 dispatch center, and sheriff
administrative, patrol, and investigation facilities. To help voters with this
decision, tours of the existing 1955 jail are currently scheduled on:
  Friday, July 12, at 3pm
 Friday, July 26 at 3 pm
 Tuesday, August 6 at 6pm
 Tuesday, August 20 at 6 pm
 Friday, August 23 at 3 pm
 Sunday, August 25 at 3 pm
Friday, September 13 at 3 pm
Friday, October 11 at 3 pm
Friday, October 25 at 3 pm 
Tours will last approximately half an hour. The jail’s address is 207 E Cayuga
St., Bellaire. Parking is available in the County Building’s parking lot at 203
E Cayuga St. The tours are restricted to 15 people per tour and are on a first
come first serve basis.

Ballots for the August 6 Primary Election arrived at our office on July 9 and
all Absentee Ballots were mailed before 3pm on July 10. Thank you for your
patience.

Banks Township is in the process of updating its Master Plan. The Master
Plan guides future land use and zoning decisions throughout the community. The
following questions are designed to gather public input on several key issues.
The community’s responses to the following questions will help to form the
updated
Master Plan’s goals and objectives. Please help shape the future of Banks

BURN PERMITS

Township residents wishing to burn fall leaves generally need a burn permit. For
the Upper Peninsula and northern Lower Peninsula, residents can visit
Michigan.gov/BurnPermit or call 866-922-BURN to find out whether burning is
currently allowed by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).  For responsible
burning information, contact Paul Rogers at 616-260-8406.


 


REAL ID

MAKE A PLAN BY MAY 3, 2023

Don’t delay. When the federal REAL ID law goes into effect, you’ll need a REAL
ID document to board domestic flights. Make an appointment now at a Secretary of
State office to turn your standard driver’s license or ID into a REAL ID. Learn
