P. MICHAEL JORGENSEN CREATIVE INTELLIGENCE My visual art and design education shatters the stereotype of "creative/artist types" who end up unemployed or working at a menial job. It has paved the way for a diverse range of opportunities. It has enabled me to excel as a professor, instructor, artist, curator, director, art director, graphic designer, copywriter, magazine writer, and non-fiction author. Through my education, I have honed critical and analytical thinking skills, empowering me to venture into entrepreneurship and establish two thriving businesses. Embracing creativity enables me to be innovative, flexible and continuously growing and learning. My unique perspective, adaptability, and willingness to explore lead to novel solutions for complex problems. I welcome challenges and solve them effectively - in part, because I enjoy researching and learning. My key traits as an individual with Creative Intelligence include curiosity, imagination, persistence, flexibility, and openness. Qualitatively, these qualities exceed management's expectations contribute to progress and transformation in my work. It often inspires coworkers, increasing their job satisfaction and ultimately their productivity. Quantitatively, it achieves marketing objectives and improves the bottom line. As a creative professional for over 20 years, I have used my education, experience, skills and talents to create memorable and effective advertising and communications that advocate, inform and inspire, increase profits and enable loyal relationships with consumers. Employing an individual with my level of expertise offers a significant advantage: my deliverables are consistently accurate upon first submission or necessitate only minimal adjustments. Bringing me on board is akin to enlisting a full-fledged advertising agency, complete with a diverse team of specialists ranging from creative strategists, copywriters, and print and new media graphic designers to a marketing communication expert and project manager. The campaigns and marketing materials I craft are tailored precisely to your needs. The best part? My services come at a fraction of the cost compared to a traditional agency. My design and marketing practice is rooted in an interdisciplinary approach that has evolved through various avenues: * Ten years of immersive Fine Arts education, culminating in a graduate program focused on Interdisciplinary Fine Arts. * Teaching engagements in new media, advertising, and website design at esteemed institutions like BCIT, University of Lethbridge, and Simon Fraser University. * Professional employment with printers, designers, advertising agencies, and collaborations with diverse companies and organizations across industries. My methodology is a combination of insights gained from diverse research and theories across multiple disciplines. This holistic perspective consistently drives outcomes such as boosted sales, expanded market share, and enhanced customer loyalty. Effective design transcends mere aesthetics and trends. My practice integrates art and media theory, semiotics, psychology, cognitive science, and ergonomics, reflecting a commitment to staying abreast of evolving disciplines. This comprehensive understanding empowers me to leverage design language for communication, advocacy, influence, and emotional resonance. Through an interdisciplinary lens, I navigate how end-users engage with products and services amidst dynamic cultural, social, and political landscapes on local, national, and global scales. My educational background and professional journey have honed my skills in research, analysis, observation, and information synthesis. I excel in uncovering pertinent end-user narratives, contextual nuances, challenges, and opportunities through a lens of critical thinking. Developing prototypes that not only meet but surpass marketing objectives, I rigorously test them with end-users to ensure efficacy. The end result is a campaign that resonates meaningfully with the target audience, fostering increased sales and enduring customer allegiance. A wise designer builds supportive teams. Inspiring and motivating co-workers, associates and freelancers with a shared vision or reward for top performance leads to extra effort and enthusiasm. A co-creative process welcomes all involved to contribute to the campaign's success. This includes the night janitor, manufacturer, warehouse packer, delivery driver, spokesperson and CEO. A unique insight may lead to knowing what the customer wants before he or she knows it. All aspects of design are dedicated to the end-user. Research provides insight into what motivates them. Every element of a campaign captures end-users attention, interests and actions. Copywriters listen to their stories and note their linguistic idiosyncrasies. Their clothes, work, education, interests, hobbies, goals, and aspirations identify who they are evolving to become and aspire to be. The resulting creative strategy is the project's how-to-manual, road map and legal contract. The campaign's vision and outcomes are revealed. It defines its marketing objectives, paints portraits of its audiences, identifies the benefits and features of its products and services, and specifies branding iconography, symbols and narratives.A creative strategy is also a contract between stakeholders and consultants to develop creative that conveys specific messages. Keeping the message consistent through all media builds consumer trust and understanding of its products and services, purposes and values. WHEN THE STRUCTURE, CONTENT AND THEME SEAMLESSLY INTEGRATE WITH CREATIVE ELEMENTS, THE CAMPAIGN TRANSFORMS INTO A COHESIVE GESTALT THAT ENCAPSULATES THE ESSENCE OF THE CORPORATE IDENTITY AND ETHOS. Effective campaigns have the power to shape the lives, culture and surroundings of their targeted audience. * PROCESS, PHILOSOPHY, MOTIVATION THE PHILOSOPHICAL AND MOTIVATIONAL APPROACHES WITH WHICH I APPROACH WORK. INDUSTRY SPECIALIZATIONS I design integrated campaigns that include advertising, branding, product sales, consumer education and advocacy. I research and develop creative strategies. I manage people who create media, including those involved in photography, graphic design, illustration, digital video, editing and copywriting. I hire and direct artists, actors, and models for print and Web. I manage media buyers, programmers, SEOs, event coordinators, and more. These are the industries I specialize in: * Adult Education / Academic Studies & Research * Writing, Publishing, Magazines, Newspapers, Social Media * Visual, Theatrical, Musical & Performing Arts * Health: Physical, Mental, Financial, Spiritual * Natural and Holistic Health * Personal Development and Self-actualization * Creativity * Philosophy & Psychology * Advocacy / Human Rights / Justice * Conservative Politics * Human and Constitutional Rights * Judiciary * Liberty CREATIVE INTELLIGENCE Creative Intelligence is one of three intelligence types developed by Robert Sternbergas as part of his "Triarchic Theory of Intelligence." Creative intelligence is a valuable characteristic in those who have it, because it: * enhances curiosity, learning abilities, and expertise in different domains. * innovates solutions to problems that may be hard for others to solve. * invents solutions that are not yet available in the market. * enjoys challenges and developing new skills. * imagines innovative solutions because it is receptive to diverse ideas and discovers new connections between them. ENTREPRENEURIAL EMPLOYEE I am an entrepreneur. I founded Jorgensen Designs in 1998. My second business, Body Mind Soul Studio, was founded in 2008. I supported myself with these companies, while also taking on employment with other companies to expand my skills and provide mentorship. Entrepreneurial employees are said to be "driven, passionate, smart and innovative." I encourage employers, employees and other stakeholders to do their best work. When I believe in a company's mission, I am motivated to see it succeed. I agree with this researcher, who writes: "The secret of an entrepreneurial employee's ability to accomplish so much is to take responsibility for his successes and failures by objectively evaluating his performance and constantly improving his knowledge." As an entrepreneurial employee, I choose employers whose goals align with my own. Work ceases to be a chore: It is an empowered choice of altruism and self-actualization. CO-CREATIVE APPROACH I co-create marketing communications campaigns for products and services by listening carefully to all stakeholders. By listening, I identify the challenges and opportunities experienced by everyone in the process, including those involved in the design, manufacture, marketing, purchase, delivery and use of the product or service. By solving the challenges and capitalizing on the opportunities discovered in a co-creative process, creative marketing efforts increase profits. CREATIVE CHALLENGES Over a decade of dedicated immersion in Interdisciplinary Fine Arts at the post-secondary level has honed my ability to meticulously research and explore every facet of a project. This rigorous process consistently leads to the development of a creative strategy that not only emerges but also crystallizes the objectives of a campaign. Identifying a central theme that harmonizes diverse elements into a unified narrative is a hallmark of my approach. Effective communication of this theme across various media channels is essential for resonating with audiences. Clarity and focus on a singular theme significantly enhance the likelihood of success. Understanding the target audience and consumers is paramount. Through in-depth analysis of relevant market research, attentive listening, and strategic questioning, I delve into the historical and present narratives of the audience. This insight allows me to grasp their challenges and aspirations, enabling me to tailor my creative output accordingly. Utilizing both symbolic and verbal language, I aim to establish a mutually beneficial relationship with my audience. This symbiosis enhances engagement and fosters a deeper connection with the message being conveyed. I derive immense satisfaction from leveraging my skills to mold and bring forth impactful ideas. INSPIRE & BUILD SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITIES In my roles as a: * new media artist * art gallery exhibitor * Art Gallery Director and Curator, * Associate Professor of Fine Art * Course Designer * Marketing Communications Instructor * designer of educational technology * Holistic health and wellness therapist and writer * I motivate others to do their best work. I recognize everyone's contribution to a project. I motivate by recognizing people's talents and skills. I coach people to realize their potential. I create a supportive environment in which each person's contribution has value and is recognized. * EDUCATION A CREATIVE & DISCIPLINED MIND I ATTENDED POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION FOR AS MANY YEARS AS IT TAKES TO BECOME A PHYSICIAN. After working with Lisa Petty as a copywriter on many successful campaigns, she hired Jorgensen Designs to promote her as a natural health expert. This led to her hosting her own radio show and podcast, known as Lisa Live! with a local radio station, and many new career opportunities. In 2020, she became Dr. Petty, after successfully defending her Ph.D. in Philosophy, Applied Health Sciences: Social and Cultural Health. Jorgensen designed the first and only GLBT-focused smoking cessation program in Vancouver, Canada, which will be used as a model for campaigns in other cities and countries. Tailored specifically for hiring committees as part of Jorgensen's innovative employment application, this board game promises a one-of-a-kind experience. Select your character from a diverse array of options, including male and female artists, male and female art history professors, or opt for the mysterious theater arts masked character to keep your identity concealed and add an element of intrigue to your gameplay. Much like the unpredictability of real life, time becomes a crucial factor as you flip the hourglass to initiate the countdown. Navigate through the game by rolling the dice and accumulating valuable resources such as gold, copper, silver, and titanium bars as you traverse through educational institutions, workplaces, art galleries, and exhibitions. Venture into the realm of Chance, symbolized by Schrödinger's cat, where the cards you draw can either propel you towards victory or present unforeseen challenges. While there's no risk of ending up in jail akin to Monopoly, a creative block might hinder your progress, causing you to miss a turn. Skillfully leveraging your connections or showcasing your innate talent can lead to substantial rewards, such as earning bonus points with a "Grant Approved" outcome or securing an extra turn with a stroke of luck from "Roll the Dice." As the sands of time dwindle away, each player gets one final opportunity to make their mark on the game. Tally up your achievements, each assigned a symbolic dollar value representing points accrued rather than monetary wealth. The player with the most significant accomplishments, reflected in their amassed points, emerges victorious. The essence of being an artist lies in transcending conventional societal norms and embracing a mindset that defies traditional boundaries. Unlike the conventional pursuit of accumulating wealth as seen in Monopoly, true success transcends material possessions and monetary gains. Success in the artistic realm is not solely defined by educational qualifications, exhibition history, or work experience; rather, it is a fusion of raw talent, innovation, and a unique perspective that paves the way for recognition and acclaim. Artist's Quest challenges players to rethink the conventional notions of success, urging them to question standardized benchmarks and discover that winning holds diverse meanings for different individuals. Artists are adept at challenging societal norms, redefining success, and evolving their understanding of art and achievement as they progress through life. Through Artist's Quest, Jorgensen aims to breathe life into the mundane details typically found in resumes and portfolios, transforming them into a vibrant, lived experience. This game encapsulates Jorgensen's unwavering dedication to fostering creativity, promoting meaningful education, weaving compelling narratives, and crafting engaging designs that leave a lasting impression on players. This involved redesigning and rewriting all of their marketing materials and website, creating online advertising, developing social marketing and content.RESULTSBy rebranding & redesigning the 2 divisions’ websites, advertising and marketing materials, I increased income from courses, maximized enrollment, and improved awareness and reputation of graduate programs. With the website, I improved useability & usefulness, increased site visits, & conveyed the exceptional features and benefits of programs. I gave it: an improved site structure, downloadable forms & materials, a search engine, graduate student profiles, faculty profiles, answers to frequently asked questions, and online contact & feedback forms. Both graduate programs received the most applications to their graduate programs than they ever had in their history of their operation! My presentation design helped the Faculty of Education secure a $3.1 million dollar endowment from the Werklund Found. In Vancouver, BC, the multimedia campaign was project managed by Stephen Rodrozen. The project was conceived by Gay West and funded by Vancouver Coastal Health and Health Canada. It took six months and included a post-campaign marketing research survey on its efficacy. The most effective way to attract the attention of the audience, while avoiding stereotypes, is to photograph influencers from the community. Since the LGBTQ community is small enough, and mostly in the West End where the campaign was advertised, the influencers were recognizable and lent their credibility to the campaign. Using a 'gay voice' — one which employs a self-effacing humour — put a smile on the faces of the audience, making them open to reading about a serious and challenging topic. Health Canada stated, "Proud to Quit Smoking is one of the most effective campaigns we have ever sponsored."
