Playing in the ocean, being part of nature and the sheer joy of riding waves is
why we do it and we know that you will love it too.

Surfing is a healthy and social sport and nothing gives us more pleasure than
helping you to catch the best waves that you can and sharing in your success.





STUNNING BEACHES AND A BEAUTIFUL ENVIRONMENT

The surfing lifestyle is built around a love for the ocean and St Ives Bay in
Cornwall is one of the best environments that a surfer could hope for.

We are fortunate that there is almost always surf and the beach is long enough
for you to find space even in summer.

Most of our surfing takes place at the beautiful National Trust beach of
Gwithian and Godrevy, the start of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that
stretches up the coast along the North Cliffs.

Friendly, welcoming and fun. We had a great lesson with Scott and (new) Fred! We
both had a little experience of being in the water on boards - but the lesson
massively increased our understanding of the waves and safety. There was a good
balance of beach-based and sea-based learning. And we both felt that we were
taking away a load of tools that we could practice on our own. We will

I don’t over rate anything as it can be see as OTT.

However I have to say that if you are looking for literally the most friendliest
bunch of people in Cornwal for Surfing or even equipment hire, these guys are
the ones.

My son had a trialing session there, perhaps with another 20 others and they
were superb. 3 hrs later he is totally inspired.

We run a number of community clubs that get all ages and abilities surfing and
have brought thousands of people to the waves since we were established in 1999.

CORNWALL’S PREMIER SURF SCHOOL

At our surf school we take surf tuition seriously and work hard to make sure
that your surfing lesson is as fun and rewarding as possible. For this reason
all of our coaches are fully qualified as surf coaches, lifeguards and first
aiders and two have even coached the British Junior Surfing Team on a number of
occasions. A surf lesson with us can help you to achieve all of your surfing
goals.

Gwithian Academy of Surfing is an Academy of Surfing Instructors Accredited Surf
School (one of only three in Britain) that operates from Gwithian – the
Northernmost point of St Ives Bay – and is very close to the towns of Hayle, St
Ives and Penzance.

The surf school is run from a purpose built beach-side location where we can
offer changing facilities, a classroom for teaching surfing theory and
facilities for video analysis within an easy level walk of the shoreline. The
surf school is right next to a large car park so parking is always available.

Gwithian Academy of Surfing offers group and private surfing lessons for all
levels – beginners, intermediate and advanced- and for all ages. We regularly
cater for families, backpackers, children, schools and corporate groups.

Accommodation can also be provided in our beautiful seaside village to help make
your stay the perfect surfing holiday.
