GOVERNMENT HAS LAUNCHED THE NATIONAL PUBLIC FREE WIFI INITIATIVE IN THREE PUBLIC
HUBS TO BRIDGE THE DIGITAL DIVIDE AND EMPOWER CITIZENS ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
THE INITIATIVE HAS BEEN LAUNCHED SIMULTANEOUSLY AT INTERCITY BUS TERMINUS IN
LUSAKA, CHISOKONE MARKET IN KITWE AND KAPIRI MPOSHI BUS STATION.
TECHNOLOGY AND SCIENCE MINISTER FELIX MUTATI SAYS THE INITIATIVE WILL CREATE A
DIGITALLY INCLUSIVE ZAMBIA BY SHAPING THE COST OF DOING BUSINESS.
MR. MUTATI SAYS THIS WILL BE DONE THROUGH SEAMLESS COMMUNICATION AND ACCESS TO
INFORMATION THAT ENHANCES BUSINESS, TRAVELLING AND LIVELIHOODS.
HE SAYS GOVERNMENT REMAINS COMMITTED TO BRIDGING THE DIGITAL GAP BY EMPOWERING
MARKETEERS AND TRAVELLERS WITH ACCESS TO ONLINE MARKETPLACES, FINANCIAL SERVICES
AND TOOLS TO GROW THEIR BUSINESSES.
AND HEAD OF PRESIDENTIAL DELIVERY UNIT –PDU- KUSOBILE KAMWAMBI SAID THE LAUNCH
STANDS IN THE VISION OF PRESIDENT HAKAINDE HICHILEMA TO TRANSFORM ZAMBIA INTO A
COMPETITIVE MIDDLE-INCOME ECONOMY.

Government plans to revamp ZAMPOST Bus Services By Mark Ziligone Government has
unveiled plans to revamp ZAMPOST bus services to address the financial
challenges the institution is currently facing. Technology and Science Minister
FELIX MUTATI says ZAMPOST has been facing pressure which has significantly
impacted its revenue generation. Mr. MUTATI says the rapid growth of the private
courier sector has created a more competitive landscape, forcing the institution
to adapt in order to stay relevant. He was responding to Nakonde Member of
Parliament LUKAS SIMUMBA during the question for oral answer session in the
National Assembly. Mr. SIMUMBA wanted to know whether Government is aware that
ZAMPOST workers have not been paid for the past three months.

HH pledges more support for irrigation farming (ZANIS) President HAKAINDE
HICHILEMA says Government will increase support for irrigation farming in
drought-affected regions. President HICHILEMA says more funds would be allocated
towards irrigation projects as a direct response to the ongoing drought which
continues to impact large areas of the country. He says there is need for
sustainable agricultural practices particularly in light of the current climatic
conditions. The President adds that there should be proactive approach in
ensuring that farmers withstand the challenges that climate change has brought.

Eligibility case: IG warns 'anarchists' By Paul Shalala The Zambia Police
Service has advised the public to avoid flocking to the Constitutional Court
premises when the judgment in former President EDGAR LUNGU's eligibility case
will be read on Tuesday next week. Inspector General of Police GRAPHEL MUSAMBA
says his office has received credible intelligence that certain individuals are
planning to cause disturbances during the court proceedings. Mr. MUSAMBA has
warned that any acts intended to disrupt public peace and order will not be
tolerated and those found engaging in such activities will be dealt with to the
full extent of the law. He has told ZNBC News in a statement that the Zambia
Police Service is fully prepared to ensure that law and order is maintained
across the country. Mr. MUSAMBA has appealed to all peace-loving citizens to go
about their daily activities responsibly on that day and to follow the court
proceedings from the comfort of their homes or other appropriate locations.
