STOP RED FLAG LAWS IN TENNESSEE

JOIN THE EFFORT NOW TO HELP DEFEAT GOVERNOR BILL LEE’S SPECIAL SESSION TO ENACT
A RED FLAG LAW IN TENNESSEE!

Governor Bill Lee has called a Special Session – even though most legislators
oppose it – to force the Legislature to enact Lee’s proposed but clearly
unconstitutional RED FLAG law. When the Legislature adjourned without voting on
his proposal, he has announced that he would force them to come back in his
Special Session to force the Legislature to consider his RED FLAG law. But,
there are also other proposals including one that bases the RED FLAG law on
whether individuals are taking certain prescription drugs and perhaps others
such as proposals to make it a crime for you to be held accountable if your
firearm is stolen from your car.

What is clear is that Governor Bill Lee’s Special Session, his proposed RED FLAG
law and any other proposed gun control measures are a real and tangible threat
to your Second Amendment rights.

We have reached out to TFA members because we are trying to raise $150,000 to
fund a statewide radio, and advertising saturation effort. We have already
engaged a professional media consultant to advise. We have several national
conservative advocates who are based in Tennessee who are supporting this
effort. The fact is that these kinds of efforts take money because the radio
stations and social media outlets are not going to let us run ads for free.

We urgently need your help to show Governor Bill Lee and the Legislature that
Tennesseans do not want or need a RED FLAG law. We do not want “gun control”
particularly any gun control that the United States Supreme Court’s rulings
indicate are clearly unconstitutional.

We have a short time to spread the word through all available means of
advertising, social media, podcasts, videocasts and interivews in order to reach
the voters. We need the voters to put pressure on the Legislators. We need your
help to achieve these goals and raise these funds. Keep in mind, all the funds
raised by TFA and TFALAC are dedicated to protecting the rights of Tennesseans.
We do not use these funds to pay full time salaries, travel expenses or wardrobe
accounts because TFA’s board and officers are all volunteers.

Since TFALAC is a state PAC, its operations are governed by state laws and
regulations. There are two significant differences in federal and state law
regarding PACs. In Tennessee for state issues there is no limit on the size or
amount of contributions that a state PAC can accept from an individual, family
or business. Another important different is that businesses, including
corporations, can contribute to a Tennessee state PAC.

The Tennessee website concerning PACs contained this information as of April
2023:

> 17. Are corporate campaign contributions allowed in Tennessee?
>
> Yes, beginning on June 1, 2011, corporate contributions are allowed to be made
> to candidates and PACs in Tennessee.
>
> 19. Are there any dollar limitations on the amount of contributions an
> individual may make to a PAC?
>
> No, there are no limits on the amount of contributions that may be made to a
> PAC.
