NEW S-STEM SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The UMass Department of Mathematics and Statistics is proud to announce the
launch of a scholarship and mentoring program: Enhancing Underrepresented
Participation in Mathematics & Statistics: Mentoring from Junior to Master’s.
The program awards scholarships that will support undergraduates in their third
and fourth years and for a fifth-year master's degree in applied mathematics or
statistics. It also provides mentoring and summer research opportunities to help
students succeed. This program is supported by a $1.5 million NSF S-STEM grant,
awarded to a team of department faculty led by Assistant Professor Maryclare
Griffin. Applications for the fall 2023 cohort are due April 1.
