The day after Thanksgiving—that kickoff to holiday shopping we call Black
Friday—can be a time of big-time bargain hunting, but it can also be the kickoff
to a stressful month (and beyond, if you’re not careful). Here’s a rundown from
Britannica Money.
Sticker shock
If Black Friday marks the first time you’ve been in the market for big-ticket
items since last year, you might be shocked at how much things cost. Here’s a
rundown on inflation.
Stay within the lines
Don’t want Black Friday to put you in the red? Stay within your preset budget. A
great place to start is the so-called 50/30/20 Rule.
Credit cards' double-edged sword
If used irresponsibly, credit cards can put you into a deep hole. Used wisely,
they can boost your credit score.
Here’s your reward
Many credit cards also offer bonus miles, shopping or travel rewards, or cold
hard cash back. Match your incentive cards to your spending.

ARE YOU READY FOR A LOT OF FOOTBALL?

If too much mashed potatoes has turned you into a couch potato, you’re in luck!
This weekend is filled with a number of notable football (and soccer) games on
TV. There are 12 World Cup matches, including Friday’s U.S.–England game. It’s
also rivalry week in college football, and one of the biggest games is
Saturday’s battle between Michigan (Go Blue!) and Ohio State. Not ready to leave
the couch? Then tune in to the NFL games on Sunday.

Politics, Law & Government
The world today is divided territorially into more than 190 countries, each of
which possesses a national government that claims to exercise sovereignty and
seeks to compel obedience to its will by its citizens. Governments can be
classified in any number of ways. For example, they might be classified by the
