Art teachers selected the students' work which is on display in the Support Services building. COMAL ISD BOARD OF TRUSTEES HONORED WITH STUDENT TALENT To honor the seven trustees who make up the Comal ISD Board of Trustees, the boardroom was decorated with messages from students across the district as a way to say, ‘thank you.' January is School Board Appreciation Month. SMITHSON VALLEY RANGERS FOOTBALL HONORED FOR RECORD SEASON The Smithson Valley Rangers football team was recognized for its second-place finish in this year's State 5A Division 1 conference with a 14-2 record, and Athletic Coordinator and Head Football Coach Larry Hill was honored for earning his 300th Career Win during the season. SIX COMAL ISD ATHLETES SELECTED FOR SAN ANTONIO SPORTS ALL-STAR BASKETBALL GAME Six Comal ISD seniors will continue to represent the district and their school on the court during the inaugural 2024 San Antonio Sports All-Star Basketball game March 24. COMAL EDUCATION FOUNDATION HONORS STAKEHOLDERS The Comal Education Foundation hosted an appreciation event on January 26 and recognized teachers, campuses and community supporters. It was also a great opportunity to showcase the Foundation's success. CANYON HIGH VOLLEYBALL STANDOUT NAMED COMAL ISD KENS 5 ALL-STAR ATHLETE Cougar Nation brought out all the fanfare to celebrate this year's Comal ISD KENS 5 All-Star Athlete Megan Hawkins. With her teammates, family, coach and fellow classmates cheering, she was presented with the honor in the Cougar Den. COMAL ISD DIRECTOR NAMED REGION 20 TEPSAN OF THE YEAR One of Comal ISD's amazing leaders has been honored for her dedication and expertise by the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA), being named the 2024 Region 20 TEPSAN of the Year. ELEVEN COMAL ISD MUSICIANS SELECTED FOR ALL-STATE BAND Eleven Comal ISD student musicians were selected for All-State Band honors after advancing from region and area competitions during a rigorous audition process that begins with more than 70,000 participants. HILL COUNTRY COLLEGE PREP ENGINEERING CLASS WINS NASA TECHRISE STUDENT CHALLENGE A proposed experiment from an engineering class of eight students at Hill Country College Preparatory High School was among only 60 in the nation and two in Texas to be chosen for a $1,500 grant by this year's NASA TechRise Student challenge. The work to turn their idea into a reality begins now. THREE COMAL ISD CAMPUSES RANK IN SAN ANTONIO AREA’S TOP 5 Two Comal ISD elementary campuses out of 582 public elementary schools are in the top five in the San Antonio area with Hoffmann Lane in the top spot according to the Children at Risk school rankings for the 2022-2023 year. In addition, Memorial Early College High School is ranked as the the second best high school in the area.
