This product has been treated with a harmless water-based wood preservative
solution, which provides basic protection against the elements. It should be
re-treated at least once a year with a similar harmless solution to protect the
wood. Placing the dog house in a sheltered spot will also help to reduce wear.

AFTER SO MANY ATTEMPTS, THIS IS USELESS FOR US.
I was so excited about this purchase but it’s been a huge letdown. We got this
for feral cats who have chosen our yard to spend lots of time in. The intention
was for the house to be used for shade from summer sun and also for rain/cold
winds in the winter. First problem I had with this house was the quality of the
materials. For $300 I expect high quality. The pieces of wood are not very
solid, and in fact I’m surprised this house is being marketed for dogs because
big dogs can be heavy and I don’t think the quality of the flooring would hold
up over time. The pieces of wood were for the most part cut ok, but there were a
few instances where my husband (who was putting it together) had to improvise
and got very frustrated. For the low quality materials alone, I would say the
purchase price is inflated by up to 50%. The other gripe I have is that the
“window” is pretty useless. There’s such a small space behind it that they may
as well not have included it. It’s not like it’s wide enough to protect from any
elements coming inside. A third complaint is the elevation, which I knew going
into the purchase was probably not high enough for cats. I know it’s made for
dogs and maybe that’s why, but an option to make the legs taller would have been
appreciated. Rain bounces off the ground and can get inside, plus cats like to
be higher up for safety. So we separately bought several cinderblocks to elevate
the house to protect against rain getting inside. I held off reviewing this
house after the cats refused to go into it over the summer, thinking that they
would surely go in there when it rained. Nope. We’ve now been through both
instances this was purchased for (sun and rain) and nothing can entice the cats
to get into it. Not catnip, not bedding, nothing. It’s a total bust for our
purposes. If you’re considering it for cats, I would not recommend it at all. I
would also not recommend it for heavy dogs because of the low quality materials
not seeming like they could hold weight.

FELL APART
Looks quite nice and my Corgi took right to it. After about 6 months two roof
slats and two side slats had all blown their fasteners. I tried to use clamps to
put them back in place and the rest of slats started popping out like dominoes.

GREAT SHELTER FOR MY PUP
After a lot of research online and several comparisons, including a handmade
house at a yard supply, I settled on this model. Contemporary in style with a
tinted clear front, the house was easy to build and only took about an hour.
Some of the predrilled holes didn’t line up perfectly, but with a power drill
and Philips bit, it wasn’t an issue. I placed an all weather dog bed inside and
have the house staged in a 10x6 kennel. My Great Pyrenees puppy is quite
comfortable in this set up and enjoys his nap time away from the other dogs.
Note I did purchase the larger of the two available.

TWO PAWS UP!
Great doghouse! It was easy to put together and the design is perfect for our
setting. I much prefer the natural wood to the vast majority of other plastic
options available. I recommend using some wood glue during the assembly, for a
more sturdy product.

CUTE BUT CHEAPLY MADE
The dog house is obviously a cute modern home but it is very cheaply made. We
had to purchase our own screws as the ones that came with the kit were too short
to hold it together well. The wood is thin and cracked / chipped in some places.
I wouldn’t purchase again with the price but my pup loves it.

NOT WORTH THE PRICE TAG
Came with a broken leg, and holes were not lined up so one side of the roof in
the front overhangs but is short an in the back. It will not hold up in rainy
weather as there is no coating on the wood of any kind, and the screws on the
roof will most likely cause water to leak through. Overall it was easy enough to
put together in about an hour, and it fits the look I was going for, but is
definitely not worth almost $300

MODERN LOOK WITH AN OLD FUNKY SMELL
This dog house looks great but smells so bad. We had wanted to keep it in the
house in the game room for our Ridgeback, but it smells so bad it's going to
have to go outside. I hope he will use it, and the smell eventually goes away. I
don't know what we can do with it otherwise. I'm very disappointed! I can not
recommend this for indoor use. We will see if it works outdoors.
