**NEW DATE**

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2023 - 4:30PM

Join hosts Jess Kyle, Kevin Dent, and Darcy House on November 2nd from 4:30 –
5:30 pm for  BCAMT Listens event in conversation around the ideas shared by
Peter Liljedhal from the Think, Thank, Thunk podcast “Ch 14 – How We Grade “.

“They discuss the big question most teachers have about Thinking Classrooms: how
do we grade our students? By utilizing the navigation instruments as grading
tools, they share how teachers can shift from a points-gathering paradigm
towards a data-gathering paradigm and better reflect the achievement of learners
in a Thinking Classroom. A large portion of this episode discusses questions
addressed in the FAQ and builds on Maegan and Kyle’s classroom experience.”

BCAMT LISTENS

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2024, 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM

Join hosts Jess Kyle, Kevin Dent, and Darcy House on February 22nd from 4:30 –
5:30 pm for BCAMT Listens event in conversation around the ideas shared
by Vanessa Vakharia from the Math Therapy podcast “Mathers gonna math w/ Deborah
Peart“.

“You know how readers read and writers write?  Well one day Deborah Peart
decided that math should also be a verb, so she created the Mather movement.
She and Vanessa discuss the difference between a “mather” and a “mathematician”,
how numeracy and literacy are basically the same thing, and how bringing a
mindfulness approach to her classrooms led to her being known by her students
simply as “Peace Lady”.  Shake up your glitter jar (yep, that’s a thing) and
settle in for this hilarious and uplifting ep!”

To register, please visit https://bcamt.ca/listens. A Zoom link will be sent the
day before the meeting.

BCAMT READS FALL 2023

**NEW DATE**

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2023 - 7:00PM

Join hosts Sean Chorney and Susan Robinson for a virtual discussion of Anne
Watson’s book, Raising Achievement in Secondary Mathematics.

“Anne Watson presents a provocative perspective in her book and argues, for
example, that simplifying mathematical questions for previously low achieving
students runs counter to the learning of mathematics. She provides empirical
evidence and strong argumentation of how mathematics can be taught more
equitably and authentically and provides suggestions as to how to support
previously low achieving students.”

Sign up through this form: https://forms.gle/SYLZ21jZNsHyCv4f9

A Zoom link will be sent the day before the meeting.

There are lots of secondhand copies of this book available online through
Abebooks (if you want to avoid Amazon).
