Arbitration has become a prominent mode of resolving disputes globally due to
the procedural flexibility it affords. Thus, certain procedural safeguards such
interlocutory or interim measures need to be in place to protect parties during
the pendency of the arbitral proceedings. In that regard, it becomes pertinent
to analyse the jurisprudence governing the grant of interim reliefs in relation
to arbitration proceedings. NDA presents this research paper which discusses the
types of interim reliefs which arbitral tribunals can grant, the standards of
grant of interim reliefs by the arbitral tribunal and courts in aid of
arbitration, comparing Indian statutory provisions governing interim reliefs in
arbitration with those of the UK and Singapore, emergency interim reliefs in
arbitration, and various other contemporary issues emerging in this context.
