Among our many hallmarks, we count our celebration of the great American “Town Band” tradition. The MCB is beloved by its members, community, and audiences alike. Our band members strive for the best possible musical performance through individual commitment to their craft as instrumentalists. MCB performers are active life-long learners. We are about much more than simply connecting with our community through music. Membership in the Meridian Community Band is an open invitation to enjoy music with our friends and neighbors as we explore band repertoire created by the great master composers, in addition to the performance and commissioning of today’s best and brightest composers. The Meridian Community Band is located in Meridian Charter Township, Michigan, home to the communities of Okemos and Haslett. Our members come primarily from metropolitan Lansing with others commuting from the Flint, Detroit, Jackson, and Grand Rapids areas. Learn more about us HOW TO JOIN The Meridian Community Band accepts new members who consider themselves musicians and who have achieved at least advanced high school level proficiency on their instruments. The band is always seeking new members on all instruments; however, in some cases membership in a particular section may be capped at that time. The current roster of the MCB is made up of advanced high school level players, university and college level players, collegiate music majors, and some advanced professional musicians. Our musicians range in age from 18 to 80. Our informal “new member” screening process includes completing the interest form below. Upon completion, you will be contacted via email by the appropriate MCB Section Manager along with one of our conductors.
