MORNING PRIVATE CHARTER



Our most popular excursion. This charter is the perfect start to your day as we
troll and fish the calm waters of the beautiful Hawaii coast. After a small
snack we dive and snorkel the warm tropical coves and reefs and end the day
searching for breaching whales or stumble upon pods of playful dolphins. Perfect

GET TO KNOW OUR BOAT



The Maria B. was designed and built in 2012 by R&B boats in Eugene, OR. The
concept of our boat is to provide our cut bait ("chunking" or "mooching")
fisherman with plenty of deck space. The large deck is complimented with large
fish/ice hold, 12 rod holders, bait cutting table, shade area, and all the
tackle. The captain's helm is complimented with GPS, radar and fish finder.

ABOUT THE CAPTAIN



Captain Craig Hawkins has been fishing, surfing and diving in the Hawaiian
Islands for over 30 years. Raised in Capistrano Beach, California, Craig
dedicated his growing years to surfing and fishing the Southern California and
Baja California coastlines, frequenting places like San Quintin, Todos Santos,
Blacks, Trestles and Beach Road. In 1986 Craig set his sights on the Hawaiian
Islands.

Frequently Asked Questions


Are children allowed to particpate?


We love having kids aboard! From our experience, 5 years and up tends to be the
magic age. Please inform us upon reservation as to how many kids and what ages,
as we are required to have the proper safety equipment onboard.

How many passengers can you accommodate on our trip?


You will have the boat exclusively. You can bring up to six passengers.

Does your Boat have a restroom?


Our boat offers a variety of features but unfortunately does not have restroom
facilities on-board. We recommend using the restrooms at the Marina before your
trip and we make sure to take frequent "breaks" out in the water during our
swimming and snorkeling portion of the adventure. If you have an physical
limitations or special needs, please message us and we will do everything we can
to accommodate you!


Can I keep the fish that we catch?


We take enjoyment in sharing the fresh catch with our guests. We ask our guests
to take all they can eat while it is fresh and to please not freeze or give it
away.

(We have lots of uses for the fresh fish to help us keep our services
operating).


Is there parking at the marina?



YES! LOTS OF FREE PARKING.

C. Hawk departs daily from the world famous Honokohau Harbor on the Kona Coast
of the Big Island of Hawaii. We meet at the pier/boat ramp just North of the
restrooms. See map below or follow our directions.

DIRECTIONS FROM AIRPORT

 * From the airport head East for 0.5 miles on Keahole St. 
 * Make a right onto HI-19/Queen Kaahumanu Hwy heading South for 4.6 miles. 
 * Turn right at Kealakehe Pkwy and head into Honokohau Harbor.


DIRECTIONS FROM KAILUA KONA

 * Make a left onto HI-19/Queen Kaahumanu Hwy heading North for 4.6 miles
 * Turn left at Kealakehe Pkwy and head into Honokohau Harbor.
 * Take the first right and follow the road to the North end of the Harbor.

Do I need to buy a fishing license?


There is no marine recreational fishing license in Hawai‘i, so you don’t need to
worry about that as long as you don’t sell your catch.

What should I Wear and Bring?



I’M WONDERING WHAT TO WEAR/BRING. WHAT IS THE WEATHER/TRIP GOING TO BE LIKE?

Typically the air temperature will be around 70 degrees in the early morning and
will rise to 85 at midday. The sea temperature will be 76 to 80 degrees.
Seasonal changes are not real dramatic and fluctuations in these air/sea
temperatures will only vary a few degrees. In short, almost every day is a great
day for Kona sportfishing, sighseeing and snorkeling! Attire should be light and
include a hat, sunscreen, camera and sunglasses.


SWIMWEAR AND SHORTS ARE GENERALLY THE BEST BET. IT’S TYPICALLY A BAREFOOT TRIP,
TOO!

If, for any reason, attire requirements deviate you will be informed the day
before your trip (make sure we have a good contact number for you).

How long are the trips?


We offer two blocks of times for our trips, a morning and afternoon charter. The
morning private charter last 5-hours and the afternoon private charter lasts 4
hours. We also offer upgrades or all day bookings if you are interested. We
cater to your trip preference and interests. If you would like to fish all day,
we can make sure you are on the fish searching for the big ones. If you want to
fish a bit and then snorkel and view some wildlife, we can do that to! Just
select your preference when you book your trip and we'll do our best to make
your trip unforgettable!
