IRREGULAR TESSELLATION EXAMPLES

Tessellations figure prominently throughout art and architecture from various
time periods throughout history, from the intricate mosaics of Ancient Rome, to
the contemporary designs of M.C. As you can probably guess, there are an
infinite number of figures that form irregular tessellations!

 * Meanwhile, irregular tessellations consist of figures that aren't composed of
   regular polygons that interlock without gaps or overlaps.
 * Only eight combinations of regular polygons create semi-regular
   tessellations.
 * Semi-regular tessellations are made from multiple regular polygons.
   Tessellations form a class of patterns in nature, for example in the arrays
   of hexagonal cells found in honeycombs.
 * Regular tessellations are composed of identically sized and shaped regular
   polygons.

 * Rectangles, rhombus, and trapezoids also tessellate. There are three
   different types of tessellations ( source): A regular polygon like a square,
   equilateral triangle, and a hexagon can tessellate. but only if you view the
   triangular gaps between the circles as shapes. While they can't tessellate on
   their own, they can be part of a tessellation. For example, polyiamonds and
   polyominoes are figures of regular triangles and squares, often used in
   tiling puzzles. Circles can only tile the plane if the inward curves balance
   the outward curves, filling in all the gaps. Tessellations have given rise to
   many types of tiling puzzle, from traditional jigsaw puzzles (with irregular
   pieces of wood or cardboard) and the tangram, to more modern puzzles that
   often have a mathematical basis. What about circles? Circles are a type of
   oval-a convex, curved shape with no corners. Only three regular
   polygons(shapes with all sides and angles equal) can form a tessellation by
   themselves- triangles, squares, and hexagons. In a tessellation, whenever two
   or more polygons meet at a point (or vertex), the internal angles must add up
   to 360°. While any polygon (a two-dimensional shape with any number of
   straight sides) can be part of a tessellation, not every polygon can
   tessellate by themselves! Furthermore, just because two individual polygons
   have the same number of sides does not mean they can both tessellate.
   Additionally, a tessellation can't radiate outward from a unique point, nor
   can it extend outward from a special line. and even in paper towels!īecause
   tessellations repeat forever in all directions, the pattern can't have unique
   points or lines that occur only once, or look different from all other points
   or lines.
   
   You can find tessellations of all kinds in everyday things-your bathroom
   tile, wallpaper, clothing, upholstery. anything goes as long as the pattern
   radiates in all directions with no gaps or overlaps. They can be composed of
   one or more shapes. A Tessellation (or Tiling) is when we cover a surface
   with a pattern of flat shapes so that there are no overlaps or gaps. This
   month, we're celebrating math in all its beauty, and we couldn't think of a
   better topic to start than tessellations! A tessellation is a special type of
   tiling (a pattern of geometric shapes that fill a two-dimensional space with
   no gaps and no overlaps) that repeats forever in all directions.

armor-ignoring damage, also referred to as nullification, and is frequently
featured on Psionic abilities vs Organics and those of the Specialist which
target Robotic units. Grenades, Heavy Weapons, SPARKS and the Grenadier's
Shredder ability all have the potential to inflict such vulnerabilties.

Throughout the day when you encounter rhyming words, pause and exclaim something
like “Wow! ‘log’ and ‘dog’ rhyme!” Express yourself like you never realized it
before. When it is mentioned in the song, that child puts it in the center of
the circle. Sing the song again and invite the kids pair up the items, taking
turns. Stress the end of the words as you say them. Hold each pair as you repeat
the two words.This allows kids who are just beginning to rhyme to still be a
part of the activity. Remind children rhyming items have a same color dot on
them.Each pair should be visually separated to keep the rhyme together.As you
sing, pick up the items in the song that rhyme as they are mentioned.Put
container full of items in front of you.You don’t want someone thinking a moose
is a caribou or a goose is a swan. Show children the items in the container.
Showing the written words will be too advanced for some kids, but others may be
ready to have the concept introduced. Point out how they look and sound the same
at the end of the word. One common mistake kids make is they will listen for
words that sound the same at the beginning of the word.įor older
pre-kindergartners: Print “cat” and “bat” on white board. Reiterate that rhyming
focuses on the end of the word. Then tell them to point to the child at the end
of the line. Have the remaining children point to the person who is at the front
of the line. To reinforce it is the end of the word, have 4 to 5 kids stand in a
line all facing the same direction.

Introduce and sing this song with children for a few days before adding this
hands-on activity with the song.Įxplain words rhyme when the end of the words
sound the same. Note: Children should already be familiar with the song “Down by
the Bay” before doing this activity. For example, goose and moose could have a
silver dot on the top of them fly and tie could be green, etc. Put a different
colored dot on each pair of rhyming items. Whiteboard and dry erase marker

emphasises the proper control of soluble complex salts of platinum which are
respiratory sensitisers by providing examples and suggestions for consideration
in the design and implementation of occupational health and safety programs for
worker protection. Most PGMs are integral to the workplaces in which they are
used, and typically cannot be eliminated or readily substituted. It has almost
exclusively been confined to workers exposed to certain compounds of platinum
known as complex halogenated platinum salts (CHPS), of which chloroplatinates
are the most common forms. The main health effect of concern for certain forms
of platinum in industrial settings is respiratory sensitisation, commonly
referred to as platinum salt sensitivity (PSS). It represents just one part of a
comprehensive and voluntary stewardship program which is underway in the PGM
industry with the aim of protecting the health of employees who work with PGMs.
This guide will be valuable in advancing awareness of the hazards and risks
associated with occupational exposure to PGMs, and how to effectively manage
them to promote the health and safety of the workforce. It is targeted at health
professionals and those responsible for day-to-day operations in the industry.
The Guide "Safe Use of Platinum Group Metals in the Workplace" is a sector-wide
consensus document promoting the safe handling of PGMs in the workplace.
